imagine if you had to compile a list of tracks which [in your oppinion] defined drum&bass music. if you were asked to present a cd of tunes to someone who had never heard a d&b track in their life, which tracks would you consider putting on there to sum up the entire genre? which tracks have been turning points for our scene. discuss...

ok, for a start, i'd definitely have to put some anthems in...
tunes like the nine & warhead are both been tunes which have defined the scene in some way shape or form...
for me warhead sums up the sound of 1997 & the nine was released in 1998 when the scene went through that rather dark techy sound.
tunes which i would also consider would be the likes of adam f's circles, the western tune, doc scott's unofficial ghost, pulp fiction, renegade snares, & some more up to date stuff would include return of forever by high contrast - a tune which for me, along with 3am reintroduced the more liquid vibe into the main arena - thank the lord!
that's not all... but i have a bucket load of work on so i'll continue on this rant when i've had a bit more of a think :D

However much it has been torn to pieces it is still legendary in my eyes although has to be the original not the remix.

I played Voices by Jez Q which is just a kind of harder version of the 'rock.
Bodyrock was good when it came out and still an enjoyable tune.

strontium jazz had a pretty big part in the darkside sound
badass for jump up
& brown paper bag - a tune which alongside new forms pushed drum and bass (not for the first time) into the mainstream...
also soul in motion by krust, remember the roller by Dr S Gachet, spiritual aura by engineers without fears, truly one and li-li all had their effects on the scene.

I was looking through most of the tunes and to be honest, although a lot of them are classics in there own right, have you noticed that you're probably a bit sick of a lot of them where they have been slaughtered to death ! !
Am I right on this one ? :unsure:

@coombz
alright dude, I'm not being clever just pointing out somat:
that tune that your feeling is actually a remix thingy by 'Break' on Eastside, cant remember who by though. So if you download we are ie by lenny de ice it wont be the one. I know the b-side of the new one is 'sticky finger' so that might help.
Aye! avit all ftb massive !

there are alot of classic tracks, but only a few of them would be defining moments in d&b... i mean the nine ceratinly would be but not much else bad dompany would be...
