The main act of the evening is Mr Martin Reevs aka Krafty Kuts. One half of SuperCharged & Against The Grain, superstar DJ, top dog producer and one seriously funny bloke, please welcome the hardest working man in show business!
Krafty Kuts aka Martin Reeves started his career in the music industry from humble roots running his Brighton record store where he gained his encyclopaedia knowledge of hip hop and funk supplying records to the likes of Fat Boy Slim amongst others. So by this time around 1996 Krafty Kuts was already DJ’ing all over the south coast making a name for him self and had started dabbling in the studio making beats. His first big break (no pun intended!) happened when Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim heard a dubplate of Krafty’s ‘Gimme the breaks’ tune and immediately signed it to his Southern Fried label and the tune was massive! As a result of this success a hook up with Ministry of Sound's offshoot label FSUK followed, unleashing the singles 'Funky Elements'; 'Wild In the Aisles' (inspired from Martin's appearance on Supermarket sweep!) and 'Return of the Elements'. Soon afterwards in 1998 he released his first Krafty Kuts' compilation 'Slam the Breaks On' which went on to sell well into the five figure mark.
It was at this point Krafty Kuts met Skool Of Thought, the pair hit it off and decided to launch a weekly breaks night in Brighton and SuperCharged was born. With the dynamic duo as residents and pulling in all their DJ mates the night soon become a hit and was rammed every week. Today the club is world-renowned and you can still find Krafty Kuts playing most weeks.
The year 2001 was also proving to be an eventful period for Krafty Kuts producing music for a Coca Cola advert, PlayStation 2, Guy Richies ‘Mean Machine’ movie and a cover mount CD for Mixmag. With so much music being made, the DJ bookings flooding in and the club full, Krafty decided to call it a day at the record store and instead launched two record labels with business partner Skool Of Thought. Following the success of the club nights they named one label SuperCharged and the other Against The Grain, the latter had planned to be a collaboration with Freddy Fresh but his global DJ commitments made this impossible. A string of killer releases followed with Krafty Kuts ‘Lost Plates EP’, Lock The Hype’ and ‘Sound Check’ making big waves on the breaks scene. Could it get any better?! Well it did and in 2001 and 2002 Krafty Kuts was voted in the top 100 DJ’s in the world by DJ magazine and then best International DJ in Australia beating of stiff competition from the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Adam Freeland. Krafty Kuts found himself in true superstar DJ territory!
On the horizon is Krafty Kuts next album on Against The Grain taking a more breaks orientated approach and due for release in Spring 2006. Mr Reevs is the ultimate party DJ he effortlessly blends Hip Hop with Breaks, Funk with Drum & Bass and throws in the odd Old Skool rave tune for good measure!
And for the first time ever FOTB are doing a double bill!!
Nick Thayer is an up & coming breakbeat star! He has just been awarded the Best Remix Award at the International Breakbeat Awards for his work with the Drummatic Twins and he is now on tour celebrating and promoting his DJ and production skills!
Nick Thayer

Bold. Unassuming. Adventurous. Slightly fruity. These are all words Nick Thayer likes to use when pretending he knows about wine, and he has had plenty of chance to practice recently, with plenty to celebrate, but let’s start from the top.
After a number of years in various pretentious funk-rock bands with various pretentious names Nick had the misfortune to end up DJing at a mate’s party. “I borrowed some turntables in the morning, figured out how to use them in the afternoon, and DJed that night”, he recalls. Thayer soon discovered that records and turntables were easier to deal with than drummers and singers, and so decided to give the DJing thing a shot.
Nick continued to work on his DJing , and started getting booked all over the Australia. Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Byron, and even Wollongong all found themselves wondering why this lanky idiot was invading their clubs and jumping around like a loony.
In November 2004 Thayer decided to make the trek back to his homeland to see what the fuss was like over there, playing some massive shows at Supercharged in Brighton, Blowpop in Bristol at the request of John Stapleton and Soulberries in London. Returning to Australia with renewed enthusiasm Thayer and Bass Kleph decided to come up with an excuse for more frequent interstate drinking sessions and starting writing together. The results were the massive ‘Fuckin the Groove’ and ‘Ante Up’, not to mention an unstoppable remix of the Drumattic Twins ‘Feelin Kinda Strange’ for UK mob leaders Finger Lickin and the tune he won Best Remix for at this years Breakspoll!
Back in Melbourne and Thayer joined the team at Triple RRR radio, hosting ‘Beats Electric’, a weekly show, mirroring his musical tastes and incorporating anything electronic or beat related. Within six months he has had guests such as The Streets, Prodigy, Arrested Development, RJD2, Plump DJs, DJ Format, Boca45, Katalyst, d.i.g., not to mention offering plenty of emerging local talent the opportunity to get some exposure.
Not content with all that, Nick took up an offer from Melbourne institution Honkytonks to host a night. Called ‘Pick Up the Pieces’, it is already garnering a reputation for igniting glowstick dancing in even the most sedate DJs, and as for the party people, well some things are better left unsaid.
With a full length album in the works, another UK tour planned including playing the infamous Eargasm @ Fabric at the personal request of the Plump DJs, the finishing touches being applied to some more high profile remixes, and a whole swag of new releases to follow, Nick Thayer can look forward to plenty more reasons to practice his wine tasting technique, and a good reason to lay down a few more cases…
