Friday saw the 2nd reprcussion event in Nottinghams Rescus Rooms establishment. We arrived at about 9.30 to the amazing sounds of a live 10 piece d&b/breaks band called kereitsu, who smahed it. live drumming, a brass section, even a violinist joined the more conformative artists in a mishmash of genre cross pollinisation of epic proportions. awesome. Diversion tactics were sloppy, their MC turned up about 45 minutes late, so we went upstairs to hear two local guys Trouble and Ref'83 smash the place with some nice d&b flavas, a great blend of liquid and the harder virus type stuff. boh!
Kasra & Cyantific are two fast rising stars of d&b, Kasra runs Critical recordings and Cyantiic are Hosptals' newest signings as well as running their own Replicant audio imprint. Their set consisted of 90 minutes of awesome dubbage including some nice VIP mixes.. I think they recorded the sets so hopefully there will be some audio.
I was joined towards the end of their set by Stamina MC who continued to hype the small but perfectly formed crowd with the man like Calibre!! I couldn't tell you much about the Calibre set as I was in the 2nd room MCing for Hasta, who played an amazing 1994 jungle set. boh!
all in all a wicked night out, shame it wasn't busy though.. the drive back home was pure jokes too... aiiight!
