Wayne Rooney will definitely miss England's World Cup group stage games.

The striker, who has had a scan on his broken metatarsal, has been told he will not discover when he can resume training for another three weeks.

Rooney's club, Manchester United, confirmed the 20-year-old will require another scan on 14 June to determine when he can start training again.

If Rooney gets the all-clear then, he would have 10 days to get himself fit for a potential last 16 knockout game.

Was it ever in doubt? Even if he's fully recovered, it'll take time for him to reach match fitness.

I read it was actually the England camp itself giving us false hope.

Sir Alex was pissed off at them deciding whether Rooney was fit for playing and not him. So he demanded that they knew his level of fitness first and not the England camp.

I expect the England lot still think he's fit for playing despite this.
