Talking to Zon about them on Friday, apparently the Pioneer 800 is the one

Get Pioneers if you can, the CDJ1000 is the best by far on the market but even the bottom end ones they do the CDJ100/200 are both really good quality cd decks. The 800 is ok but imo they've tried to get it too much like the 1000 but it has suffered a bit in build quailty to keep the price down.

cool, i was thinking the 800 due to the price but i understand that the memory ge
ts wiped when its unplugged from the mains, is it really worth spending £300 more for the 1000mk3?

i bought a CDJ800 & instantly through "presumtions" was a bit gutted to realise it didn't play MP3's

My thoughts on getting something for the future would be (if there is one), a CD deck which plays audio files rather than "CD's" because you're then not restricting yourself because when you're playing a cd, you're playing an audio file so why not go one step further & have USB ports where you can grab the tunes you wish & play them?

This may be available & if it was I'd go for that in a CD deck

the cdj800 mk2 & the cdj1000 mk3 both play mp3's now, much better imo.

ridiculous comment. like it or not vinyl is dying a death. i reckon it will have totally gone within the next decade, might be even less!

I bought the Denon S3000 last year because i wanted to get a CDJ with a spinning platter so that i could use it for scratching. Sampling wise and scratching wise it is very simple to use and the build quality is excellent, however i still find it easier to mix on the Pioneers even though i've only used them a handful of times and i've been using my Denon for a year now - the Pioneers are nice and easy to mix with.

i don't think to the same extent.

big drum & bass tunes were doing 20,000 units back then.

now days they are lucky to do 3,000-4,000.

look at how many vinyl specialists have gone.. massive being one of the biggest and best.

MIKEE HUSSLA

massive did screw themselves by charges ridiculous prices when they were going under, sending more potential customers away

i don't think they had much of a choice.. they had big overheads.. the rent for their shops must have been huge.

The oil used to make the particular vinyl is at worryingly low levels now - people will have to start recycling them!!

Totally agree. I've been using my Pioneers all over the shop for some time. They're CMX5000s, and I reckon they're actually a lot nicer to use, and definitely more portable than CDJ800s. They're also cheaper and have a few more, genuinely useful functions. The CMX 3000s are an even better version, followed by the CDJ1000s as your ideal top of the range number.

Y'all seem to have resolutely ignored my comments about the Pioneer CMX 3000s and 5000s actually being quite a lot handier than CDJ800s.

Not many people own the CMXs, so not many people know, but value for money, they win hands down compared to the 800s.
