YUNGUN & MR THING debut album:

grown mans buisness released september 11th!!

Grown Man Business is the full debut album project from dynamic duo Yungun & Mr Thing. This feature-length presentation, brought to you by two of the UK’s finest, follows their recent double whammy of underground smash singles: Jackin For Breaks [“Essential”. DJ mag; “A winning combination” Blues & Soul], and Forget Me Not [“an exemplary three tracker” Hip-Hop Connection; “definitely single of the month” Echoes]. Charismatic emcee Yungun handles the mic with typical verve and style throughout, whilst Mr Thing delivers all the beats and cuts.

The album’s title and inspiration comes from the Grown Man Business series of mixtapes Mr Thing used to regularly compile for Yungun. As well as providing a musical education, the mixtapes also became the soundtracks to the pair’s journeys up and down the motorways of Britain when travelling to and from their various live performances.

Yungun set sail on his musical voyage around the mid-nineties, forming Dupa Styles with fellow rapper Devise [featured here on ‘This Is Who We Be’]. Contributing strong solo guest appearances to several records and releasing some blistering 12’s Yungun marked himself out from the crowd and forged a growing reputation as a British talent to watch out for. In 2004 The Essance brought together new Yungun material with some of his previous gems for a full length masterclass in entertaining high quality hip-hop.

Mr Thing was formerly one of the 4 man Scratch Perverts DJ crew who took the crown at the world team event at the DMC Mixing Championships in 1999. He then went on to take the solo crown of UK DMC Champ in 2000 and is now part of the Extended Players Crew [alongside Shortee Blitz, DJ MK and Harry Love]. Thing is widely recognised as one of the worlds most talented scratch and club DJ’s and combines amazing technical skills with his impeccable musical taste creating a winning formula which never fails to win over crowds. As well as continuing his ongoing DJ endeavours, Thing is now also moving further into the world of production.

Together Yungun and Mr Thing make a dexterous hip-hop duo. The fully grown-up Grown Man Business album sees Thing blazing a trail of production gems track after track, and Yungun spitting pure fire [literally on track 8!] throughout. The record also features guests in the form of some of the countries finest: Yungun is joined on the mic by Dupa Styles colleague Devise and poisonous poet Doc Brown [both on ‘This Is Who We Be’], up and coming UK stars Lowkey and Stylah [‘Spit Fire part 2’], and homegrown hip-hop fave Jehst [‘Sound Of The Drum’].

Individually, Yungun is now recording his solo album entitled ‘The Middle Man’ [due out next year]. Mr Thing has been busy DJing, producing, and was also chosen to compile and mix the recently released ‘Kings Of Hip-Hop’ mix CD alongside hip-hop icon DJ Premier. In addition to Grown Man Business, Yungun & Mr Thing will be releasing their ‘Jack The World’ mixtape soon and are set to grace stages in the UK and Europe with their unmissable live show.
