Oxford d&b. what next?

Oxford has never been healthier! it seems like every man and his dog are promoters/mcs/djs/producers which is fantastic, especially looking at the demographic profile of the city itself, you would imagine the music should really be a minority. Why is the city such a hotspot? Of course Oxford has always been synonymous with dance music, ever since the heady days of the illegal rave scene. It only seems like yesterday when i was listening to the tapes from likes of Easygroove and some unknown geezer called DJ Spinback from the likes of Cassington, Leachlade and Eynsham. Rave events such as Perception, Dance Planet and even Helter Skelter started off in Oxford too, so Oxford is and always will be a mecca for dance music or will it?

So there are more events in Oxford than ever before! great! I counted about 15 last time i bothered. Now do we have enough punters to fill these events? i'm, not so sure. So i guess survival of the fittest will play an important part. I'm hoping that no people start a dirty tricks campaign, I know the way certain people feel about certain events. Hang on a minute, aren't all junglists meant to stick together? I think so.

We can all go raving every single weekend in Oxford, when did that ever happen before? I can remember when events were very few and far between. Imagine 1,500 people trying to get into the coven on a Sunday night, it happened! i've never seen a roadblock like it since! well maybe the Radio 1 Source broadcast, but man.. jesus!

What next for d&b in Oxford? will it be plain sailing with some fantastic events? or will it be a clash of the egotistical titans? who knows? what do y'all think?

so supply outstrips demand? i agree there... i think people will start to vote with their feet, with the obvious choices being made becuase of.

1) who is playing.. obviously some djs/mcs will be more popular than others.
2) venue.. people have preffered venues
3) cost

what other factors?

i think supporting your mates is the other main thing.... i dont really know that many ppl so obviously it influences my decision a lot less than those who kno everyone!

I know I'm an outsider, being from Devon, but as a hungry DJ I really started my nights for the same reason as other promoters I know. Because existing promoters won't or can't give me sets!..
I ain't gonna sit on my ass DJ'ing in my fucking bedroom for the rest of my life...
I wanted to do Oxford Alliance so other people could get sets, therefore postponing their bandwagon hopping!
:D

Big up Oxford people power. Just because you haven't got to play out your own productions doesn't mean you can't rock the party!

Respect to each and everyone..... B)
