I think he's good, Gets the crowd going and i dunno about his rymes now, but depthcharge era was quality.

To tell you the truth, Jay Jay was hammering out some rough tunes and i could'nt hear Benji.

But to see him leaping around the stage was quality.

yeah he's more an oldskool kinda MC... HOWEVER!!!!!

he's still better than the vast majority of oxford mcs who seem not to bother even acknowledging a crowd and giving it the extreamly mundane bididididididididi style...

Yeah Benji talks to the people and doesn't get too stuck in the speed chat frame of mind...
Oh my gooooooosh!

This whole 'mcing' polava really confuses me,
-first cd's i heard with GQ etc ,yeah let the mix run, highlight
djs performance, keep 2 few bar lyrics
-now the 'best dnb mc' is a pioneer of bdabdabda.
-greatest mc of all time-hyper d invented speed chat bdabda
-tunes these days have become faster and geared 2 bdabda
eg.twisted,hazard....
-if hypa & skibba were wrong why are our up&coming mcs
flight, rizla about as clear & original as 2 stripe shelltoes

No offence to benji but everytime i've seen him,he takes over
the mic, screams (?) and generally makes his presence known
by his size and state of mashedness, easily mistaken 4 an old skool mc,thats wot used to put me off mcs,i use bda bda
may not always be clear but i know i'm using real lyrics.
shouting isnt a talent

there is a real split within the drum&bass fraternity right now... a similar split to the one which occured in 1995/6...

you have the nu-jump up scene... the likes of clipz, hazzard, twisted etc...
then you have the likes of marcus, calibre et all.

obviously just like the 95/96 you have cross over artists too... people like concord dawn as an example...

the nu breed of mcs represents this too

the nu-skool jump up mcs like flyte and eksman and then you also have the likes of SP and 2Shy running things for the heads..

it's horses for courses and i'm very much into lyricists who really push things forward with new flows and styles no matter if it's double time, single time or whatever.. it's a shame the scene can be very locked down and be such a "who you know" rather than what you can do school of thought...
