View Full Version : Postering problems!

Just a quick request for anyone who sees people ripping down OX4 posters could they give me, Charris or Lax a heads up please.

I know that some old timers/do-gooder neighbourhood watch types make it their mission to rip down any poster they see but when its only OX4 posters getting ripped down and any others getting left up it leads me to believe its someone with a grudge/problem with our night.

If anyone has an issue with our night i'd expect them to be a man about it and approach us to tell us why.

Otherwise sort it out. We put alot of hard work, time and dedication into promotion and I don't appreciate seeing it go to waste by people ripping down our efforts. Please stop it.

On a lighter note - come along its this Saturday 13th @ The Bully Arms backroom!

Thank you please.

:)

They're only going straight back up anyway.

Its just fucking annoying having to spend so much time doing it.

I did some HQ postering in town in December on my lunch break, walked past the same spot about 20 minutes later and they had been gone over by the Boogie Basement

Think Oxford's bad, here in Bristol you're lucky if any poster will stay up for more than 20 mins. Plus if the council get hold of you, you can get fined £15 for each blu-tacked poster! couple this with the most determined team of street cleaners you've ever heard of (who just to really piss every one off will leave posters about god, arts fairs, infact anything but clubs up!!) as well as random do-gooders means you spend half your life postering!

thats low...someone was doin same to us round here in all fast food shops etc...you seem same as us as in one comes down day later were on it and its back up...but thats not the point.

if they worked as hard on putting there own stuff up as they do as taking others down they may be some form of real competition.

instead of bullshit tactics.

one council got onto us and contacted the club who gave my name up....blagged it saying over enthusiastic 'fans' take it upon thereselves to help out..lol. we cant put boards or paste in that district now tho...not about pushing ya luck cos if ya get caught red handed ya doomed"!!!

promoting is hard at times...new ideas needed.

postering is good but there are more effective ways of advertising in this digital age of ours.

Is it acceptable putting then on cardboard and zip-tieing to traffic lights/ lamp posts etc, or is that still punishable?

They're coming down really hard on that round here, not sure about elsewhere but it's a another big fine for each one of them they remove.

Thats ridiculous, they dont cause any damage. If you think, established promoters could come to an arrangement with the councils to just replace them each event. Cant see a problem with that, whereas the gripe with pasted ones is the mess they cause.

This has been an on going problem in oxford for some time, by the sound of it, happening everywhere aswell.....dunno what it is...think some peeps don't like having competition...but its not competition, peeps can't see that. Oxford has a good scene, and could be alot better if the rivavary didn't cause these rifts...

Cities like oxford need more poster boards for promoters to put there posters up, beneficial for both the promoter and councils etc..

Postering shouldn't stop, just coz peeps start being stupid over postering your night up, or coz 'the digital age' is here...How are peeps that don't spend there life on the internet or know peeps who do, know bout the nights!?

that's a given.

i have a database of several hundred numbers that i can use for sms campaigns.

the best way to advertise is to ensure that you cover all possible avenues.

flyering >> via shops & in the hand after events
postering >> on the street + in shops
sms + e-mail campaigning >> can be effective if your database is decent
other forms of web marketing >> i.e. myspace + forums
word of mouth >> can be very succesfull in its own right
