Hi all,
I notice on the hospital website that Logistics has just released loads of his stuff on mp3, but won't be doing so on vinyl by the sounds of it. Is anybody gutted about that, or is the opion on FTB that he's 'passe' already.
Personally, I wanted to get my hands on last year's loss among others. A bit dissapointed to be honest.
On a lighter note - Muffler 'Waves Breaking' - Is that a TUNE or what!?!
Thoughts?

Fucking ghey, his tunes always sell well on vinyl so why not do a limited press or suttin.

I'm gutted that Logistics album's not gonna be on vinyl. It would sell enough i'm sure, specially as Hospital Records are promoting the use of vinyl, and having a no cd deck policy on there nights...

I'd understand if they did a limited addition press of vinyl releases for this album,, but not no vinyl

the album doesn't sound too strong at first listen, quite a few fillers on there really
Philblunt
6th June 2007, 02:21 PM
I agreed there are a few fillers but IMO 'Most' albums have a fair few fillers on there Mikee my man. For me though, I know when I need a tune, and when I need a tune I'm not phased by buying a whole album for one tune if it's the only way. ('Meditation' for example). Not sure if I NEED last years's loss, but it's up there.
As said above, Hospital is the driving force behind the 'war on vinyl', enough about that on podcats, no cdj's on the night etc etc. Surely they can't just go 'actually, fuck it all'. We shall see..

see what you mean
fight for vinyl etc but sell MP3's, bit of a joke
although saying that about fillers, I was listening to the Calyx - No Turning Back LP last night & it's not really filler at all! hehe

Hospital used to be a buy on sight label for me but a lot of their recent output has been very dull. Only tracks i have bought recently are the Bungle 12" and the latest High Contrast 12"

Ditto, well almost I wouldn't say its one of my least favourite labels..just not up there anymore. The output recently just hasn't been consistenely good I feel.

I'm a self-confessed hospital addict, but I too have been unimpressed by recent work, but then again I'm not a fan of Nu:Tone and he's man of the moment at the min in terms of whos releasing right now. Last thing of note for me was Swindle rmx (which I still need to get).
On the album note, WOMC 3, the LP version, sucked a bit I thought. I bought it for Trot and Melon, which was a tough buy (had to really justifiy it to myself). Since then though, that London Electricity remix on there has grown on me a lot.
I'm truly dissapointed about the double standard here with those mp3s, they would make quite a killing if they just did another vinyl EP at least. I was wellannoyed at the choice of shite they stuck on the City Life EP. IMO 'take me to the bridge is toss' and dont get me started on spacejam remix, dear god.

I really liked the City Life EP, still play it these days actually..:iconmonkeydance: There was a cuppla tracks on the WOMC 3 album i was a bit 'what an earth is this...' but stand out tracks on there were:
Hard-Fi - Hard To Beat (London Elektricity Remix) & CLS - Their Names Were Trot & Melon, which I thought were well worth buying the whole album for!
I wanna get that new Nu:Tone Album, I quite like his stuff! :pimpslayer:

bought the first album on CD so that i didnt have to buy the album and the city life EP.
cant believe they're only releasing these on Mp3, that's shit and means i cant get them (dont have secure net access at home).
Like most people. Hospital used to be pretty much buy on sight but havent heard anything decent from then since the first Logistics album.

Just perusing some old threads and found this:
Fav Label: Hospital
Why?: No label in the history can match Hospital for both quality and quantity of output. Every release for me is a must buy and straight in the bag. They're also pushing the music forward by giving producers album deals which means they get to really express themselves musically.
Fav tunes: So many breathtakingly good tunes...
High Contrast: Return of Forever, Global Love, Bassment Track, Brief Encounter, Lovesick
London Elektricity: Billiion Dollar Gravy, Fast Soul Music
Nu:Tone: Spread Love rmx, Feelings, Heaven Sent
Logistics: The Trip, Inside My Soul, Together
Cyantific: Be True, Little Green Men, Neon Skyline, Love without sound, Harlsden rmx
Klute: Part of Me
Total Science: My Dreams rmx, Nation 2 Nation, Living with Beaker, Badger eyes (despite the name:badteeth: )
Seba & Paradox: Move On (tune of the year so far)
Funny how things can change so much in the space of 2 years...

Crazy really, since that post the label's gone seriously down hill for me

Their actual events seem to be getting excellent feedback though. People are still banging on about Heaven now (alough most peeps are talking Subtitles ;))
Is anyone in the know about the next hospitality headliner?

Bungle & Index - Forgotten Souls
London Elektricity - The Great Drum & Bass Swindle (Logistics Remix)
Still no where near as good as the release's used to be!

Nu Tone album is nice, the tune with Commix is BAD
Still think the whole 'stop the war on vinyl' while selling MP3 only albums in a complete joke, probably the biggest and most stupid contradiction in DnB history

Following on from his BBC 1Xtra Award Winning longplayer 'Now More Than Ever' last year, Cambridge boy Logistics has just delighted his fans by releasing a 10-track album of previously unreleased material on Hospital Records, 'Medical History'. We threw some questions this way as he prepares for his set at the 3000 capacity Moondance @ SeOne Complex, London this Saturday...
http://www.dailybeats.de/file-vault/wp-uploads/2006/12/logistics.jpg
So tell us about your collection of unreleased material...is it a relief of sorts to see all these cuts finally reach the light of day?
Yeah of course, it’s nice to give people a chance to get hold of some of my older stuff. I still have a lot of material that won’t see the light of day so it’s obviously a relief to put out this batch of tracks. I’d always rather people heard my music than it sat on my hard drive.
On the other hand, was it quite nice to have secret weapons of sorts that only a handful of other people had?
In a way it’s nice to have exclusives and be in the position to give other DJs fresh material but the intention for me when writing a tune is to let other people hear it.
Did you find that any of these unreleased bits found their way onto any filesharing programmes? Have you seen the whole illegal download thang affect you at first hand?
To be honest, I’ve never been on a filesharing program so I wouldn’t even know. I’m aware of the harm these programs cause to the producers, labels and scene in general but I don’t really see a way around it. I think people are so familiar now with the idea of sharing MP3s that even if access to them was reduced, those seeking them would still find a way around it.
How’s the DnB scene fairing in Cambridge? It always seemed to be one of the dance music genres that was consistently popular in the city when I lived there...
It’s good at the moment. Alongside Nu:tone and Commix I help run a monthly called Spoonfed at the Fez Club which we’ve doing for about 9 months now. The vibe is always great in there and we’ve been lucky enough to have some of our favourite DJs and producers play down there. We also have Warning which continues to be busy even after ten years of running nights. They have also managed to stay in the same club for over ten years which I think is testament to the scene here.
You are playing in the Essence of Chi room at Moondance this Saturday 16th June at SeOne London. What do EOC and Moondance mean to you?
The nights I’ve done for EOC before have always been really enjoyable, I know the people involved in running EOC are all doing for the love of the music as well which means a lot to me. As for Moondance, ask me after the 16th!
What new productions and exclusive tracks have you got for us on Saturday then?
Lots of my own new material which I have been sitting on for a while. I’ll have an EP on Hospital later in the year so I’ll be playing some of that. I’ve also done a remix of Matrix and Futurebound’s ‘Family’ with Nu:tone and also Bungle’s ‘Too Late’ with Kasra so expect to hear them. Also lots of new bits by the other Cambridge lot, plus some wicked new things by a guy called Culture Shock who is killing it at the moment.
What’s your most prized bit of vinyl? Or are you not so much a vinyl junkie?
I have lots but my most treasured piece of vinyl is ‘It’s Alright’ (Roni Size Remix) by Nu Yorican Soul…not because of the rarity just because it’s my most played record in my collection. I also really treasure my old Mo’ Wax collection as it holds such nostalgia for me.
What set up are you rocking in your studio at the moment? Any new bits of kit you’re getting excited about?
I’m using Reason 2.5 which is a very basic set up. I’ve also been using a Juno6 synth recently as the warmth of it is incredible. I find that is all I need really. If I need to record vocals I do it in Cubase but most of the time I work with samples anyway.
Are you feeling the whole dubstep thing that’s really come into the spotlight over the last 12 months?
Yeah most definitely. I’ve always liked bass heavy garage and I just see dubstep as an extension of that really. I think it’s a really exciting time for dubstep though as everyone is bringing such different flavours to the table, a bit like DnB used to be. There is still a lot of experimentation which is a great thing to see.
And finally, what’s been your best gig this year thus far?
I’ve really enjoyed the Hospitality nights at Heaven and Audio in Brighton - there are always wicked vibes in there. Star Warz in Belgium was also really heavy as was Hit and Run in Manchester.
Logistics headlines the Essence of Chi Room at Moondance Summer Festival @ SeOne London this Saturday 16th June. See http://www.ehmproductions.com for more details.

EXCELLENT FIND TRIS. spot on.
I’ll have an EP on Hospital later in the year - This is make or break time, if logistics can pull something wicked off then I'll love him forever. It's tunes like Togther, The Trip, Inside my soul, Blackout, Thunderchild, that got me into him, so if he can pull off anything in that vein on this new EP I'll be over the moon. After having felt a bit let down with now more than ever, I really hope he can do it for me again.
