i said i didn't want clownstep at my nights, keaton is wicked as his stuff is edgey, too much dark stuff is samey, whilst keaton has a groove to his releases, and besides him and chemical are really good mates so it would have been rude not have got him down :]

define clownstep
clownstep is... any recent dillinjah, anything by twisted/hazzard/distorted minds/clipz etc... basic cheesy uninspirational drum&bass for the gurning generation... personified to me by twist 'em out and bodyrock.. might be fun to dance to when twatted but really 1-dimensional and lacklustre in musical greatness.
check this thread and find the track called "coldsweat".... this is what d&b should be about...
http://www.dogsonacid.com/showthread.php?s...threadid=149076 (http://www.dogsonacid.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=149076)
ps - of course everyone has their own taste, one mans paradox is the next mans nicky blackmarket so please don't flame me with my biggoted egotism.. music should be about whatever floats your boat, it's just a shame that our scene is being swamped with money-hungry producers rather than people trying to push things to the next level..

yea the whole twisted/hazard sound is so boring now!!! It wqould have lasted a lot longer if it hadnt been so completely cained *like many good tunes*
Not feelin this latest generation dub thing either. One side is alright, the other side is just like most of the other formation releases that i've got. I liked no6. thats the only one thats worth it i reckon out of the last couple of months that was worth buying (thats the only one i still play anyway!!!) Deffo wont be getting my vote for this years best label award!
That said the Showtime ep was pretty good and witchdoktor tune, so i wont be adding clipz to the clownstep genre jus yet. (whatever u thought of soundboy/pitchdem up lol) I dont like the word clownstep anyway... :P

good replies folks... i'm just sick of people cashing in....
clownstep doesn't just mean the swingbeat thing.. just the way certain records are thrown together with no production prowess!

What like those hihats on thirds rather than quarters?
Hard to mix cleanly unless with another swinger!
I've made a few of those, 'Punchbag', 'Panache' and 'Puzzle Box' you are gonna hate bruv! :D
Great fun on mushrooms [IN MY OPINION]...

True true...
Like Swift and Aphrodite etc. Dillinja yeah!
Samey samey!
Occassionally one comes out which is better than others but, yeah, they could all be mistaken as remixes of the last...

I am getting what you're saying but the funny thing is the simple ones are the catchy ones [Well not with you but with a lot of ravers]...
Same in a way with MC's...
Some popular MC's have the same old lyrics but ones with nuff interesting political content or scientific ramblings don't get noticed...
Maybe people like minimal....
