Ladies and gentleladies! How are you all? Well, I trust!

In September, we get all down and dirty with the bastard lovechild of Funk & this thingy called a sampler......HIP-HOP!

September 7th - The Cellar - 8pm-late

ASM (Live)
Pneumatic & Sloth (Headcount)
Illustrate (Headcount)
Euan Indecision
Zappa

We love it here at the Dugout, so to celebrate we've got, literally two of the best hip hop crews in Britain - ASM & Pneumatic n Sloth

The ASM 2007 live showcase is undoubtedly the most ambitious and innovative live project to date from rising independent label A State of Mind Productionz. The show is rooted in a unique form of live beat production by MPC-wizard Fade, intertwined with the classically-trained and undeniably gifted Ella on Viola, the multi-talented Lando on Flute, Keyboards and Percussion, and LA-based DJ Sativo on cuts and turntablism. The soul and funk-infused soundscapes they create in the process provide the arena for two of Europe’s most talented up and coming lyricists, Green-T and FP the Funky Poet, to get busy and experiment with flows in ways that are surely unique in the world of underground hip hop today. Indeed, it seems unfair to classify this strictly as a hip hop live show, as there are undeniable crossovers to funk, soul, downtempo, jazz, breaks, and spoken word, resulting in a truly unique musical blend that is simply beyond the reach of two turntables and a mic. The two MC’s complement each other perfectly, with the Funky Poet steadily busting the illest flows in his unmistakable baritone pitch, and Green-T rocking a variety of more pattern-orientated, introspective, and lyrical styles ASM have toured extensively in 2006/2007 throughout Germany, the UK, Switzerland, The Czech Republic, Poland and Holland to promote their release Cosmic Flavour and showcase their vision of live hip hop sound. ASM have performed with the likes of Masta Ace, DJ Vadim’s One Self, Foreign Beggars, Skinnyman, Dr.Syntax, and Skrein, to name a few, and the summer saw them tearing up the biggest independent European hip hop festival, Hip Hop Kemp in the Czech Republic, performing as the last act of the festival on the Urei Stage on Sunday night as well as running live MPC-performances and open-mic sessions all weekend at the ASM stall, which has become something of an institution at Kemp.

P-Man & Sloth first got their shit together way back in 1999 thanks to the ukhh.com forum... The boys have been lurking in the undergrowth for some years now, gradually building up an arsenal of excellent songs with a wide ranging appeal. Pneumatic’s raw northern patter fits just perfect over Sloth’s intricate, musical beats. Their first release 'The New Wave E.P' recieved rave reviews and support and established them as a talent to watch out for.. Over the last couple of years they have supported the likes of Skinnyman, Lowkey, Phi Life Cypher, Killa Kela, Ugly Duckling, Dirty Diggers to name but a few and have played in and around London, Liverpool, Wales, Oxford, Exeter, Bath, Bristol, Leeds, High Wycombe and Manchester. Check out www.headcountrecords.co.uk (new version launching anytime now) and the video for 'Our Season' featuring Lego, Simpsons, A Paper Simon Cowell and much more tomfoolery!!!
