what is the difference between hdmi and hdcp

HDMI is the standard port but HDCP is the copy-protection system that most Hi-Def content providers and DVD makers are encrypting their content with so you need to make sure the HDMI ports support HDCP. A lot of the cheaper ones don't so if you want to watch sky HD on it for example, which needs an HDCP compatible TV, you won't be able to.

Also check things like response times - the lower the better - you should be aiming for 8ms or less. Any higher than that and you will start getting ghosting around fast moving images eg footballs being kicked around a field, because the pixels can't change colour fast enough.
