1. promoters who don't take risks and book the same top 10 line ups all the time.

2. the fact that the scene is so hard to break in to, unless you befriend a well known producer of course. :]

3. events with substandard sound, and i guess visuals too.

4. complacent producers.

5. A-list DJ Fees!

Something I hate...

The view that you cannot pull the punters in without an A List DJ...

Big up Phista and the boys at Method... You know what I'm talking about...

Major props... There will be more. Please be patient. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch. Just need to focus on my own things for a while.

it is not a view it is a fact.

more people will come out to see a big name than they would to go to an event with no big names...

1.How hard it is to break into the scene...it's a shame that alot of the time you can't get anywhere unless you produce or know someone whom is established already.

2. Pikey's at raves, I don't understand why peeps go to raves when they're not going for the right reasons. It used to be all about the music...but know specially with some of the younger ones (not all of them!), they're just go to cause trouble compare the angles of their burberry hats etc...

3.Record prices are ridiculously high these days...:(

4.Events mostly only attracting big crowds if there's an A list DJ playing...which is a fucking shame, seeing as the local talent r probebly better in some cases..

5.A List DJ/MC fees...maybe me being jealous of the ort of money they rake in...& the fact it's a mission to afford some of these DJ's for nights.

6.Release schedules for tunes, take fookin ages sometimes before it comes out...even as a promo release.

7.The same line up's or certain DJ's on line ups everytime..like dave said, some promoters wont take the risk of booking different DJ's/MC's

8. SAS/MC Convention....say no more

It was aimed towards the mc's that love themselves and just do it to big themselves up and really don't have much interest in DnB.

This is where I must say, the nights I saw and was involved a bit in at the Jam Factory with NO big names were fucking rammed. Still with big DJ's like Fluid etc since, I have not been to them all but I mean the vibe in there was unbelievable.

Merge: Give em the pics again !!

I was more than happy to listen to the local DJ's with nio big names. As long as they were good !!

well if there wasnt young ppl getting into the scene, the scene would die. its just the way it goes...

things that piss me off in dnb:

crap tunes, but thats down to personal opinion...

cunts

ppl with no respect, ppl that are just in it for the cash injectoin that a 'big name' can bring them. and i know someone just like this...

bouncers that reckon they can give you hassle for fuck all

:ban:

I didn't say young people. I was raving to Drum n Bass when I was 16/17 but I was never a pikey who went there looking for trouble.

You can spot them a mile off.

but dont get confused about ppl's apperiances + sterio typing them before you've even spoken to them

I have to agree with Overkill here!

I've met some real sound people and some real cunts. More than once, the person I thought looked like a fraggle has turned out to be straight up good quality person...
And sometimes people I expect to be sound are nothing but fucking numpties...

Stereotypes are getting to be a problem in the scene!

Once upon a time you could tread on a mans foot, turn round to apologise, and end up getting a bear hug!

Nowadays you get psychopathic crackheads and it makes everyone more paranoid...

"Depends where you party dude!"

Hahaha!
But still, it'd be nice to have all forms of jungle under one roof without so much segragation running.

You get me? :D

Jibba

Both points taken and you're both right.

However, what I'm saying is the ones that you KNOW are cunts, not by the way they look but by the way they look at people and strut around the dance floor looking for trouble, spilling drinks without apologising etc Its easy to spot and can ruin the vibe of a night coz it makes people on edge. From my experience they tend to be the burberry cap wearing kids.

i think its down to the drugs people are taking these days

Hardly,

One of those lads was with me on my Cell and Molecular Biology course. They're only about for easy £ and a good weight of confiscation!

For the record, myself and Phista [Centrifugal Sound] are not responsible for the hiring of door staff / security. That side of things is left the responsibility of the venue [in this case The Jam Factory].

We are not responsible for their actions / ignorance...

We are keen to promote parties in a safe friendly environment and do not condone any violent behaviour inside or outside our events...

This is not the raving way!

I know this is 2003 and not 1993 but personally I want to see an end to negativity in the drum 'n' bass scene and make efforts to change attitudes of the people I am friends with or come in contact with, who go against that.

1-aggree strongly about the a-list dj thing but we're all guilty of
that 2 a point, anyway the last year has seen so many names
it's bound 2 get that way due 2 having less homegrown nights

2-hate this whole bullshit oxford scene-theres little talent in oxford
city,it all comes from outside but what artists there are from oxford seem 2 be causing all the beef

3-This whole 'clownstep' thing aswell-it's DRUM & BASS for fucks
sake,love it or hate it.

4-oxford artists attitudes-why cant you just ring sum1 up say
a date/time and where and get a result-if someone books me
i feel chuffed they wanted me there-feel part of it,half the
scenes so full of shit, unfortunately the talented half too

5-there's no justice for talent at all, a mate of a mate of a mate few examples benji, jossy******,******,******

paolo-ps this thread is therapy cheers jacqui

the 1st one..... if that is in reference to me bro... not one person actually called me about kinetic, i got a text or two off shuffla but i was a bit confused to what was going on with the night, guest list and stuff like that.. and since the number i had for shuffla was dead i couldn't really do much about it... and YOU know that i help people in oxford as much as i can and i hope to be helped back... i love this city and i'll do whatever i can for anyone... as i said before my house is always open, how many people have come over? not that many..

2nd one.. jossy? what you mean.. he's a great dj imho...

i

you realise that most of my posts regarding this silly sub-genre is purely in a tongue-in-cheek ironic fashion as i know it gets people motivated to talk about drum&bass rather than who is fucking who ;]

you know i like a good dance floor tune when i hear one... hence da cause and all that bizniz...

the most annoying thing about D+B?? So-called amasing DJ's (esp andy fucking c) who rewind far too much coz they can't be arsed. Saw Shy FX / Hazzard at World Headquarters last week, Hazzard was shit compar3ed to that night in the coven, he played more known tunes, but didn't mix em as well, then Shy turned up late, and rewound 3 tunes in a row.
£ tunes man! Still, not as bad as the last time I saw Mr C (admittedly a while ago), when he rewound about 6-8 times in 1 hour, including one tune twice. What a lazy twat.
