40 greatest dnb tunes

'Drum n Bass pioneer Andy C runs through the 40 Best Drum n Bass Tunes ever (as compiled from a chart through the scene's largest magazine) with additional banter from Robby'

Just thought it sprang to mind as Tanz said Shake your body and twist them out arent old skool.... imo they are. I think people forget that Shake yr body was on plate for about 2 years b4 it was released, and the promos were kickin about for 8 months. The final release was a year or so after it was made. 2002, minus a year, 2001 - is that not old skool then?

What also does define old skool, 1990's - I dont think so.

Same with Twist them out. On plate for agesss and originally didnt have skibba's vocals if I remember rightly...

I think a lot of these tunes are old skool but thats just my 2p :P
I personally wouldnt play them because they are rinsed to death and never been a fan of the vocals on Twist em out :robot:

of course they are fucking not.

What also does define old skool, 1990's - I dont think so.

Personally, as a genre, 'old skool' to me is anything up to the end of 1993. Most stuff beyond there is either 'classic' Jungle or Drum & Bass, that is when the whole sound changed.

1993 to me though was still old skool hardcore. Old skool dance, to me it wasnt even drum and bass???

I wasnt even listening to dnb back then so i'm not one to define whats what or not. Leave that to you old folk ;)

Shake your body and Twist them out are OLD now though. They were out years ago.

Subfocus - 'Airplane' (Ram)
High Contrast - 'Racing Green' (Hospital)
and 3 pendulum tunes??

... not sure if those should be put under the 'greatest' category... where's champion sound? bambaata? terrorist? And i can think of other much 'greater' tunes from the aforementioned artists as well e.g. calibre... drop it down??... i dont think so.

exactly..

since when has "great" drum n bass been classed upon a chart show?
Not really feeling commerical ties being linked with underground dnb tbh. Cringefest.

When I think of Old Skool, I think of tracks from early 90's - Mid 90's mostly. But In My Opinion Old Skool can be anything from the the beginning till the previous year.

Innit

I mean yes those tracks may of sold the units, so must be popular, but not everyone brought vinyl.. Therefore I dunno why they're basing the 'great tunes on a chart...

Shake your body and Twist them out are OLD now though.

Doesn't make them ol skool though. I'd say ol skool is anything up to and including 1995.

Its all opinion though.

Twist em out was released on hardware long before skibba put the crappy vocals on it and that version was released on TOV along with the fresh rmx.
