Yes i think its a diss really. Thou in calling it clownstep you've admitted its popular anyway IMO!

As always somethings success is its downfall!

Just rename dnb DRUM n HATE cos it'd be more accurate lol.

I would just like to add that i read somewhere that the only place clownstep exists is in DNB Forums. Id agree with that as well!

yeah that was in the thread the dave linked to, somewhere.

one comment stands out for me in that thread:

All these questions about labelling, bracketing, categorizing. It takes the focus away from the music. It takes interest and attention away from the phenomenon itself.

hmm. food for thought :badteeth: yummy!

Drum n Bass hirachy (spelling??) basically putting down what the newer generation of junglists prefere to hear. I'm discontinuing to even post on any topics regarding clownstep. If I'm feeling a beat of a tune, the vocal or anything then I'll play it. I like a whole wide range of music and also withing durm and bass I can like th edarkest stuff but also the lighter stuff. This term is bollox because as a few people have said on DOA, 90% of people, even DJ's arethrowing this about as if they know what it means when they don't as we have seen first hand on here from my post.

go hussla :D

I think ppl have a fair idea of what it is thou doesnt mean its a worth a term using. eg ask someone to describe any style of dnb and everyone has their own opinions and interpretations.

Anyway i reckon subject is rinsed and i have to admit i didnt get too far on the doa thread myself its all starting to get boring!

will the newer generationg of junglists still want to hear tunes like that in 5 years time? will they stand the test of longetivity?
i know tunes like for da cause, watching windows [gnarly mix] and such like still sound amazing today... so maybe they will.

its an amazing enigma how one silly term can cause so much discussion and oppinion, just goes to show how much love their is from people for their scene...

very true. I like to believe junglists are more passionate about their music than any other music lover.

. think that if you're gonna diss 'Clownstep' you might as well diss 'gay rage' and anything else you dont feckin like all in one go. Maybe they should coin a term that just means "music I don't like".

Frankly why peeps have to diss summit just cos it aint their thing I dont know (checking all previous threads to edit out incriminating remarks)

:D

Everyone thinks that the type of dnb their into, is obviously the scene thats the best. Of course to yourself your opinion is right.
Anyone who slates someone else's views on music are the fool's.
I know what music I like, and if it's classed as clownstep, who cares.
The thing is alot of ppl arent even on about the music when refering to clownstep. It's the naive younger generation who are new on the scene that are into clownstep. Of course they know nothing about the scene.
What aload of bollocks.......
I'm not going to let someone put me down because I love what everyone thinks is cheesy. My opinion and the one that matters to me is,if because I like the type of music most ppl are into. It's not because I'm following the crowd, but because thats the type of music I love to listen to. Now if its a case of I'm following the herd,I dont think I'd be into dnb. Lets face it,the scene isnt getting any bigger.
You could say it has alot to do with snobbery,as fair enough there is alot of a younger crowd in "clownstep". I'v been raving a long time and I'm glad there is alot of younger ppl into dnb. Because if not in a few years the scene is going to be dead, there keeping the scene alive. They may not dress like we did when we came onto the scene, but we are the generation before them. When we started raving it was a very different scene, in a way,but we made it what it is today and they will change it just the same. Anyone who is going to slate someone for liking Nicky Blackmarket or skibbadee because they think it's uncool. They are the uncool one's as they are being narrow minded.
Of course as we get older our style in music will change, that doesnt make it the right one. Those ppl who are clownstepping will makwe it into something different, like we have. And lets face it most of us wont be on the scene to whinge about it.
