We must find a link to this track!
:)

If only The Winstons knew how 10 seconds of drumming would shape our scene over the years that followed!

Imagine how many times 'that' drum pattern has passed through speakers worldwide since its first recording.

Do you reckon their drummer thought 'that sounds familiar!' when he played it?

Like a flashback of the future, kind of thing!

Where would we be without the Amen?!!

The Amen break is arguably one of the most used ever (it's right up there next to James Brown's "Funky Drummer"). Because of the fast speed of the original song, it was used quite a bit in early drum and bass. It's still used today, although not quite as often, as dnb has moved away from chopped breaks. "Amen, Brother" was originally released on 45 in the late 60s and is a pretty rocking song (The Freestylers took huge chunks of it for their "Breaker Beats"). Love that organ.

Here's a sample, but I'm still looking for the entire track!

I remember our music teacher from year 8 showing us how to play the amen on the drums...he called it the 'rave beat'

He also let us play 'rave 92' in one of our lessons once!

Rave 92 was what we used to say before giving each other dead arms!

:funk:

God knows why...

It just sounded kool to go up to a mate and say "Rave 92 eh ergh ergh!!" in a bleepy way whilst giving them a jab!

We were 11. Thats how it works.
