Thought this was an interesting comment piece about how to get rid of Mugabe from Zimbabwe:

But you'd have to get rid of all his cronies too. And turn the military. And with all the violience, I haven't seen much of what the oposition's policies are. Not that I guess it matters now.

Surely the UN *have* to do something now?

I think that taking his honourary knighthood off him will really make a difference in ending his oppressive regime.

On the news last night: I love how Gordon Brown's ideas of stripping Mugabe of his Knighthood and banning the Zimbabwe cricket team coming over for the tour next year are mean to punish and deter him. I'm sure Mugabe's crying into his cornflakes about this as we speak! :eeklaugh:
I agree with manik, someone just sniper him. All his cronies will soon fade out without him.

The UN is completely ineffective because of its decision making processes.

What did he get a knighthood for? That will probably answer the reason why they wont do shit. He was a dictator in 94, but he was working with Englands powers that be.
He's doing his own shit now, but its probably too politically sensitive for England to get involved in fear of the past coming to haunt them.

Sounds all very well to 'eliminate' him. But how do we pick and choose who we want our special services to kill? There are many other dictators out there, who slip under the radar. As for his cronies: his government and so the ministers, generals etc have been in power for a long while and so are pretty entrenched. I know that Zimbabwe is not Iraq, but sometimes if you remove the top dog, you just get a massive power vacuum. So it's not just about removing Mugabe, but installing a government with some kind of human rights understanding, that isn't a 'puppet' government.

Mugabe should be killed for poor taste in household furnishings alone.

MDC would comparatively make a very good Zimbabwean government. Its horrifying to think what some of the pro democracy support has had to suffer.
Anyway, in the spirit of hope for African nations happy birthday Nelson Mandela. The current S. African president is a complete pansy

I think we will look back on this in the future, and people will wonder why no action was taken.... Needs some sort of solution asap. Personally not sure what the best thing to do is.

I've been following this pretty closely and to be honest I can't think of a solution. Obviously Mugabe needs outing. From what I've seen the MDC seems like a real decent bunch of chaps but let's face it right, they cant'd do fuck all about it can they. if the whole of the Zimbabwean (or even just the anti-Mugabe) population grouped together they *could* overpower him, but it's not going to happen is it.
Not sure if this is a suitable time for a tounge-in-cheek comment, but has anyone called Mark Thatcher? heehee
