Big Events.

As I'm not from Oxford to have no idea.
How many events a month do you have.
It's just Notts only really have 1 alnighter,and a few events a month.
I think there should be more choice,but others reckon too many would spoil what we have.

what would you class as a big event?

the largest event is the Source special events, with a capacity just shy of 1,500 people. it's held at Oxford Brookes Uni which incidently is the only Oxford venue with no sound restrictions which is precisely why the Valve soundsystem has been booked for Feb.

these nights run twice a year [November and Feb]

Oxford draconian licencing laws are upheld by a stern presence of university top dogs on the council.

it's a crying shame.

there are other all night long events, but alas these are only for students and are "formal" ball type affairs... on the plus side alcohol is free and they do attract some fantastic big acts..

well this is a totally different can of worms.

oxford has loads of events, it seems currently drum&bass is flavour of the month in the city. which personaly i think is fantastic.. occasionaly due to the vast amount of nights there are clashes with dates and things, but the promoters are talking to each other and things generally work out well.

there is certainly a night for every sub-genre of d&b out there.

usually 1 thing, occasionaly 2.

nights off the top of my head

Source - montly fridays
Expression - monthly saturdays
HQ - monthly fridays
Formula - monthly saturdays
Reload - monthly saturdays
Meltdown - monthly saturdays
Kinetic - here and there. hopefully coming back soon!

+ various student promotions etc.

oxford also has a fantastic midweek scene too. i'm off to see the scratch perverts on thursday! boooh!
