Went to Genesis last night (14th Nov) apparently had threats that someone was out to stab me because I was with the women he likes? If you were there then you may have noticed the things that were going on, I won't go into detail. I can't be f**ked with this shit when all I'm after is a night where I can go and listen to the Oxford DJ's and MC's do there stuff and generally just have a good night. This obviously isn't what some people want. We're not school kids anymore. I'll still be going down there next week despite the hassle because I think the scene needs to be supported by the "real" junglists out there! Anyway, for the DJ's and MC's there last night. Wicked sets.
Nice one Easty, Gomez etc who helped out last night with the trouble.

It's a shame that it only takes a small minority to spoil it for the majority.
Gotta big up all those supporting Oxford Alliance.
All the DJ's, MC's and ravers who are remaining optimistic no matter what happens, respect is due.
I apologise on behalf of the Jam Factory for the sound-system problems. Unfortunately the financial side of things is out of my hands. I simply design the flyers, organise the line-ups, and handle the webvertising. Version and Gomez AKA Chris and Ollie AKA CO2 Promotions are the founders of Generator. Any one wishing to express opinions can write to jungledrumnbass@junglist.com. Mark the Subject: Generator / Alliance. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated. They will listen to you.
Until later...
Peace

Big up to all those that have been attending Oxford Alliance, don't let twats who only go to places to course trouble, stop you having a good nite! These twats aint there for the love of the music....peeps like all you real junglists out there are what it's all about!
Merge mate the other nite was alright, shame the system was having a tough time, it's just not set up for the acoustics of the room! I enjoyed playing though, would have played longer, if the security didn't turn the sstem off!!!!

I think if the attitude died down a bit then the night itself has a lot of potential because you've got a good line up and the sound isn't that bad really.

as we all know, there isn't really *that much* we can do to control the amount of bad attitude that is present at any one event. But we can name and shame those who are repeat offenders... so please do report descriptions of those people and names if you get them, with an explanation of what was going on, cos once you know who to look out for that's half the problem gone... if you get what i mean (not sure if that makes sense actually, too early, TOO EARLY)

phucking attitude pisses me off bigtime. Why dont they piss off to the garage scene....im sure they'd be more than welcome.
There's enough decent drum n bass heads in oxford - so dont let it put ppl off.

I agree but they could just phuck off completely rather than just joining another scene. They could but proberbly wont. Bastards. And also, there are things that people could do about bad attitudes, but most of them would mean having a bad attitude ourselfs and that will get no one no where. Except possibly Mike Tyson. I know that has nothing to do with what im flapping on about but just makeing sure no one can point out and try and make me look stupid later on. Ok, its not that hard but it makes it worse if i make it easy for you.
One final point that im sure ill mention many more time like this is that i dont like garage. I hope you agree. Or ill shoot you with my gun. Mawwhahahaaa. Right, i dont think anyone will get that as after typing it there wants much sense left in it for me so i will end by saying that was a joke, garage people are scum and the only reason its getting hot in here is because i have set fire to nelly the elephant with his massive head and the RSPCA didnt seam to give a phuck. Oh dear, im confusing myself again and im very tired and mothers moaning about the phone billl so i think i will give up with what im saying apart from my real final comment.
Dickheads the lot of them. Junlge is the best way and im glad i was shown the light

Controversial point, stand by......
..... My personal point of view is that garage is not at fault, and I disagree that all people that are into garage music are those who enjoy playing with themselves. There is a lot of good garage music around too, well written and arranged, there is a lot of talent out there from some bits that I've heard. It's not my personal taste, but that doesn't give me the right to slag off everyone and everything to do with that particular scene.
Yes it has its problems. And having just stuck up for it, it probably has more problems violence-wise than most other scenes, dnb included. But that violence has probably only been brought about by the way a lot of the tunes have been created and promoted as "we are bad, no-one messes with us, and if you try we will shoot you", thus causing the atmosphere inside the venues that hold garage events to turn nasty. But there are decent people who listen to garage.
Drum n Bass and Breaks are definitely what makes me tick. But I'm not going to let a scene that is less than attractive dictate to me that because a tune is garage, it is rubbish.
Let's open our minds, and try and give the music the benefit of the doubt, even if a lot of the people who follow the scene can be - well - less than friendly.
:)

every scene has it's faults in some way shape or form.
more people have died in hard house related deaths than uk garage, why? mainly becuase the drugs are not what they are ment to be, or perhaps it was due to people doing too many or not drinking enough water, whatever.
people shouldn't stereotype scenes and genres without seeing what these scenes have to offer.
granted, 95% of uk garage isn't very good (in my oppinion)
but then again.. i hate most drum&bass records out there too.
the issues that were rife with uk garage (i.e. the violence) are coming back to the drum&bass scene. it's going to happen, people are being shot already, well scary.
i blame crooked security and venue management.
on a lighter note i must big up club sidewinder/helter skelter for being totally on the ball.
boh!

I'm not sure how to put it without offending someone.
UK Garage is an ironic title as a lot of the culture seems [to me] to be a wanna-be American Hip-Hop gangsta scene. Thugs, Drugs and Gunz? Ha!
US Garage [to my knowledge] is far more soulful, happy and forward thinking.
In the UK though I like people like MJ Cole. Kinda Goosebump Funk! Nice sweet vocals and crisp beats. Nice arrangements. Smoooooth. Goes down eeeeasy!
The Streets are very inspiring as they cross more than one style in a fresh and proud way B) . Any one see them on Jools Holland? Put Craig David to shame if you ask me!
Lets start another thread entitled : 'Who tha fock is Craig David?'
I think he, to the garage scene, is like General Levy was to Jungle Drum 'n' Bass in 1994. I mean - taking the credit for a scene he really had no part in the birth of...
I best get on. I'm putting on a party in Blackbird Leys Oxford for Under 18's tonight. Should be interesting as we're showcasing Garage and Jungle D 'n' B in one event. [That's the kids request!]
DJ's Nasty & C with MC's Rapid, Mossy, Ashman, Roachrider, Ode and Genie
DJ's John E Bravo & Mikee Merge 'n' C with MC's Easty and Liebo
By the way, the atmosphere inside the Jam Factory last night [21.11.02] was a lot better simply thanks to four or five London ravers bringing positivity to the dancefloor. Big up all the Sizzle Crew, Ruud Awakening FM Crew, DJ Sniper [Sorry no MC Super Tee] and Fresh [the horns man!]
Respect FTB Crew....

I think last night was better in almost every way! The tunes that were played went down well and also the sound system was handling everything it seemed that was thrown to it.
Unfortunately due to mates being tired (lightweights) I had to leave at around 12:45 but still, up to that point I had a wicked night.
UNfortunatelt due to work, Playa J could not attend but his official first set on the mic will be next week so I hope everyone who knows Jonny as well as Shuffla etc will be down to support him/them. Check his lyrics out!
Massive shout out to Fresh! Picked up the crowd by being hyped up all night and that horn didn't stop!!!!
BIg up everyone else who dj'd etc etc.
Check out my email froma week ago on this post and you'll see what a difference in the nights it was!!!!!!!!!

CO2 Promotions have FINALLY[!!!] confirmed additional sound system courtesy of the Desta Nation Crew for Generator next thursday!
Gomez AKA Venom received a SMS from Coral the manager of the Jam Factory shortly after leaving last night saying that the owners were very unhappy at the volume we had it at last night. Amongst other things.
Perhaps I will get a petition going, to prove that it's not only the promoters of the Jungle night who think their system rules are shockingly poor.
I'd appreciate your support in any form.
Email : jungledrumnbass@junglist.com with any words of support, feedback, criticisms and requests. I will make a point of printing these off to show the club management.

No i dont like the music, or rather, it doesnt do it for me....but i do feel sorry for the ppl who are genuinely into it for the music. As im sure its been said, its the minority that ruin it for the masses!!!!!
I also think the dnb scene improved (in some areas in the uk) when garage nights started popping up, and definitely dnb nights got worse (for trouble anywayz) in Brum wen they closed all the garage nights.

Won't be going to Genesis this week, purely because I have been for about a month running every week and friday's are getting a bit harsh at work! Also, Shuffla isn't on the flyer this week and I normally go down with him and some other mates.
Will be at Compound tonight. I've got a couple of horns but I'm gonna leave it for tonight as I'm just having a chilled night tonight hopefully although am looing forward to some heavy sets as usual!!!
The sound system's been good in generator for the last two weeks so tomorrow's I imagine should be equal or better quality.
You haven't heard about some student thing at the cellar next Thurs have you/anyone? Apparently me and my main man Parslow aka Pic 'n' Mix are playing a 2 hour set back to back. Depending on the crowd that's there though will depend how dark I go!!!

I wasn't a happy bunny back then ! !
Gensis now Jam Factory now buzzing again although the same effort needs to be put into every one to keep it rollin' :D
