Quick question about those little squares

Ok, so 'quick question may have been optomistic and no im not talking about people who do their buttons up on their blazer at school. No, im talking about actuall squares that appear next to your name in certain areas of the site (like this http://feelthebass.co.uk/style_images/1/pip.gif). Now i get that its proberbly about your level of whatever or something but i wants to know where i got my second from. it just apeared today without warning. now i dont mind it too much but if this carrys on too much then my screen will be full of the things. basically, the more posts you do, your 'RANK' goes up, the squares correspond with your rank... it's a forum thing....
