Thom Yorke - The Eraser

http://www.keepmusicalive.com/images/the_eraser.jpg

Just discovered this recently after getting back into Radiohead and making a sly eBay purchase. This album really is quality. No doubt, Thom has one of the finest and most distinctive voices to grace the airwarves of popular music in the last 15 years or so since Radiohead came to the fore. Here, without the back up of his bandmates, his voice seems even more lonely, tragic and despairing. Coupled with the sparse electronic beats perhaps more readily associated with the Burial's of this world, this album is an absolute goldmine of tracks that, for me, straddle that strange divide between both down- and uptempo. A real treat that i'd recommend to anyone!

'Lonely, tragic and disparing' defiantely sounds like something I wouldnt like to listen to, infact why would anyone? ...and I know its only metaphorically speaking about his voice.

Anyway.. DJ Shadow- the private press...CLASS.

not all music has to be "happy". in fact, i'd say some of my favourite albums definitely don't have a particularly 'happy' vibe:

Portishead 'Dummy'
Massive Attack 'Protection'
Cinematic Orchestra 'Ma Fleur'
like ALL Radiohead albums...
Lulu Rouge 'Bless You'

Just a few off the top of my head

you get this alot, its aggrivating but u just have to accept it will never click with some people....partly cause they don't give it chance i think. radiohead are like marmite im afraid. i personally love the transitions in mood on their tracks, the majority of them lead to an uplifting finish - take 'lucky' for example.

well i was hoping people would follow the example, pick one album and write a bit about it so that people who don't know the album can get an understanding of what kind of music it is etc as it's not always obvious. Rather than people just listing their favourite albums

Yes beautiful voice! I have another of her albums now but not sure what it's called as it was copied from a friend so I don't have any of the info which is quite annoying
