at last!

a line up of 'name' dj's... not just ONE in an attempt to fill the club, and have local dj's before them

good work, might come down to this if i can.

big up!

(just noticed its not an oxford event... ill have to wait longer then)

innit...

ive heard talk of people wanting to really put oxford on the map, but they seem unwilling to take the risks it really takes

one big name does not make a 'good' night, and entice peopel to tavel long distances to come and rave it

(not that i know a hell of alot, obviously! and i dont mean this to sound like a dig at anyone, its just an observation)

as far as i can tell, you got to have a good/big venue... a dj line up FULL of big names, good lookin flyers and a hell of alot of promotion and distribution of the flyers to other cities/towns

gem was always like 'you have to walk before you can run' i always thought that was shite personally... get a rave good enough and people will come

Well....
I *PERSONALLY* don't believe those rules are set in stone, but I get where you're coming from...

Kids these days judge books by their covers.

Just do what HQ do...

Put on parties for adults!

That was purely financial. And you agreed with me at the time. It's all well and good holding a night with all top names, and extensive promotion if you can afford to! I went as far as I could financially, and still had a bloody good time.

Then again if I said grass was green at the moment I'd be wrong.

@ frosty... the problem with oxford is that the clubs are simply not be enough to fathom having many djs on the same line up... big name djs cost anything from £400 - £1000+ EACH. then add to that playing for support djs, security, venue, sound, lighting, advertising.... it spirals out of control. in order for demand to meet supply you need to be reasonable with the door price. also oxford's draconian licencing laws are against us all too. it's hard work.

@ merge... of course HQ is aimed at adults. we can sell beer then. on a serious note. we book people who we like, respect and admire. we couldn't care less who comes so long as they enjoy the night.

yeah, what manik said.... it's a question of ££££.

BUT..... my view is this. FUCK the big name DJs. why do you need a huge list of big names to enjoy a night out? i don't buy into that bollocks. they're just putting on a few records for fucks sake. hopefully in a year or so i too will be able to charge a few hundred quid to play some records, at which point i will probably shut up and take the money :hyper:

i didnt agree, i kept my mouth shut...

and grass is green, tho if you was explaing it to someone who never saw it before, you'd probly miss bits out and bend the truth

gem = such a victim

i agree to man, i dont see where they can make their money back from hiring the dj's, unless they're all mates etc (which they probly are anyway! sorting eachother out etc)

oxford would need a bigger venue before it becomes a 'place to be' on the weekends within the dnb scene

Second that, i want a bit of diversity in a night, not hearing 24 Twisted individual and Hazzard tracks.

Each to their own though.....

lol!

This is why i love the smaller nights rater than the bigger ones though, perfect example is HQ on friday, got there and Dave was playing Old Skool, the Mattrick played a wicked liquid style set, as did Caution, the Chemical did a Rolling set, then Keaton his thang and tore the roof off.

Much better than hearing 235 Dillinja tracks in one night IMO

and besides... HQ endeavour to bring down more than one guest at a time..

i mean..

sep was Nookie, Breakage and Senses
oct was Bailey, Chris Inperspective and Equinox
nov was Keaton & Caution

for sure some of the guests may not be house hold names, but beleive me give them 6 months..

ps - you can read a nice interview with breakage in this months knowledge.
