Chase & Status have recently been signed to Mercury Records, those guys must be chuffed about that. Fairplay to them though they've done some wicked tracks over the years. I just hope now they've signed to a major label they don't sell out..

What do you think about them signing to a major?

their tunes aint been my cup of tea for a while, but fair play to em. can see them going down the poppy d&b route a la pendulum, and the dubstep/hip-hop hybrid thing

loves theme and ten tonne ep ftw

I was at a music conference yesterday with various 'respected' industry heads who were talking about this & C&S in particular. They were saying that underground artists who gain popularity and sign to major labels are taking a natural progression because the companies have key people who are best suited to help advise and manage their sound and success. RAM gets the kudos but they're just not as well equipped.

Most of them were talking about music as a business, and I think its a bit sad that people will 'sell out' and compromise the control they have over their music when it becomes more about making money.

I wish Chase & Baitus every success

Would have been nice if they would've made one last single on Ram and made a proper dirty tune to say goodbye and thanks.

Chase & Status are how Pendulum should've been imo. They've stuck much truer to their roots and i expect that to continue.

Is Mercury a mainstream label aimed at pop/chart music??

Its all well making the odd chart hit but I dont think they could consitently produce chart type hits unless they completely switch the concept. I mean are they guna be the next Calvin Harris?

Fair play to em.

tbh I'm not into what they're doing at all but it seems like the natural progression for any artist looking to become 'successful'.

100% This.

And for the record I think Calvin Harris is quite a funny guy. He's properly sarcastic.

Calvin Harris is definitely one of the better artists in the UK who's releasing commercial dance.

Calvin Harris or Basshunter???? Hmmmmmmmmmm??

am i barking up the right tree though?

is mercury a label geared towards churning out pop hits? i have no idea. If so I cant imagine chasen status being any more commercial than they are already, what direction would they take??
i could be wrong. obviously.
