have only just found this thread!!!

have checked out some places in abingdon 2day. the guildhall is a rip off! about costs £70+ an hour after 11pm!!! and £20 or so b4 to hire and they charge from the moment you're in there!!!

v7 looks promising, although it's a strictly over 18s thing. they check ALL id. but the guy who runs it seems safe

i still reckon we should try and get some sort of night going tho :) whether it be in abingdon or didcot or wherever. only problem is that it won't run after midnight :( if it's in a town centre.

the venue seems to be causing a bit of problem...

v7 in abingdon holds about 60 people in its function room upstairs and costs LOADS less than the guildhall in abingdon. it's on bath street for those that don't know. and i've got a little rig that would definitely be loud enough. just need some funky lights and drapes etc.

they're doing some refurbishment too in January, and getting a bigger room downstairs. (again dirt cheap).

how does that sound?

The Civic Hall in Wantage is a f**king good venue in my opinion but it's very expensive to hire out. Incase you haven't been there there's a downstairs part you can hire out with a bar and also an upstairs bar with a big dancefloor and stage to get the decks and set up on. Also, I know that there are a hell of a lot of junglist in Wantage as well as Grove and they're always up for a mash up.

Venue 7 in Abingdon is small as fcuk but I'm sure last time we questioned the bloke who owns it, he said it was free!! I think in the way of, he lets you have upstairs as long as bring people to buy the drinks for you! Not sure if that has a late licence?

Radley Village Hall is quite good for a party. Done one there before and had a good set up. Advertise in Abingdon and you'll get it full fairly easy. Not to expensive either. Reason we haven't done one since is because we had a little disagreement over the contract we signed which had an error in our favour but they still said we owed them money (and still do?)

I'm sure I heard Guild Hall was only for over 21's now do to problems but can't be definate on that, otherwise, not bad venue but near Abingdon town centre which'll be prone to nobs turning up and ruining it!

ps. Dougie used to have things to do with the Oxford Wheels project etc. The skatepark off Iffley Rd. He used to go and skateboard down there I think (back in the day!)

once a month at both would would be a good idea. so a fortnightly bash but changing venues each time.

the bloke at v7 did say it was free, but that's the same as dirt cheap in my books ;) and if we charge on the door, we would be more likely to get a late liscence (only till midnight tho.)

The Radley Village Hall is always a laugh - not massive, but it's got a bar and stage etc everything u need really B)

Been there a couple of times, once with Coombes and Ally, once with Luther and Ally, both times got very very phucked and had a wicked time :D (pills first time, sniffsniff second :rolleyes: )


Also...I rekon Shuffla might be up for MCing there, he's usually up for it as hell for anything where he can rip some lyrics :P

the football club in abingdon is down by the river, just over the bridge from the old gaol.

and there is lairns barn too, but i think that's got a limiter in it cos i put on a party there a few years ago.

My m8 is friends with the owner of v7!!!!!!! found out today :D (the lights they got in there and some of the system is his lol)

he's gonna talk to him over the next few days about wether we can do anything there and what kind of deal he might be able to blag for us B) only problem is he doesnt have an 'Entertainment license' tho he has apparently had nights there before so we'll see...

depends what ya mean by decent mate, it is not too bad a size to be honest, would make a good venue. But think about it this way, might be hard to get them to let you do a night cos they are known to be a bit tight. If you mean the civic hall in didcot checkout the latest Didcot Herald mate...there was a massive rukus loads of townies vs aload of adults who were in the civic hall. townies were throwing bottles etc police came down

Don't ask how I know but I happened to end up in Abingdon Town FC at the wek end and they've recently refurbished it and it all looks quite swanky in there. If it's ready fro jungle is another thing but thought I'd mention that as another option!
