People on this forum are blind as to how bad Cowley road can be at times.

yeah saw this. thought it was a total joke.

if you dont want to get arrested then commit crime after about 2am cos then all the custody cells are full. cheers for the tip there!! also re-affirmed in my mind that all the stats that the government churn out on a daily basis are total bollocks.

alot of the people were total goons, and yeah i know it was savage, but that guy got 9 months for bottling that guy!! he only had a tiny 1 inch cut on his cheek, thought that was a bit severe. no wonder prisons are full. and those school kids they interviewed were clearly making stuff up for the camera.

the whole programme wasnt very insightful to be honest, it just stated the obvious - increased alcohol consumption = more violence. if pubs serve drinks in plastic glasses then less people get glassed. oh well done

plus the presenter was a patronising cunt and had an annoying demeanour of faux-concern. just fuck off mate

Severe? The programe pointed out how the police are totally shit when it comes to crime, The guy that did the botteling got nine months, fucking good, he should have had more, what if he blinded that kid? I had a guy stab me in the neck with the intention to kill me but he got a £200 fine and a few hours comunity service, goes to show how fucked up it all is. I'm glad this programe highlights how pants the CPS are. I bet you that chap got nine months only because this programe was following the case, bet he'd of got off with standard wounding and a fine and maybe probation!

totally agreed, the fact that he only had a 1 inch cut is totally irrelevant - attacks like that stay with you for the rest of your life

got to say i disagree, its massively relevant. if the guy had blinded him he would have got alot longer, if he hadnt broken the skin he wouldnt have gone to jail at all. time to fit the crime and all that and whilst im not condoning what he did, 9 months for a relatively minor injury seems very harsh. esp when finks attacker only got a fine and comm service - thats totally fucked up!

If you attack someone with a bottle you are intending to do a lot more harm than a one inch cut - or you would at least have the knowledge that it could potentially seriously harm the victim - that's the point

sticky area i suppose because the police/victim dont know what the attcker was intending to do. and you could potentially seriously harm someone just by pushing them over but people dont get arrested for that

i don't think you could argue that going at someone with a bottle does not indicate a desire to do serious harm...

Oh they do - even threats of assault will get you arrested. I deal with a lot of injunctions so see this everyday

im not, but there is a difference between intention to do something and attempting to do it

Ok, so, you go at someones face with a bottle but instead of intending to do serious life long harm you actually attempt to kiss them!!??

What you're saying makes no sense. If you smash a bottle in someones face, firstly you've attempted to hurt them and to cause harm and becasue you've done this with a bottle in your hand you have intent as well. It's like going out to rob something with a screwdriver in your pocket, the fact that the screwdriver is in your pocket implies and in most cases proves intent and the fact that you're attempting to rob something.
