I was broughjt up on a diet of U2, Bob Marley, Tamla Motown Recordings, The Jacksons, Simple Minds and Howard Jones [an artist John B has recently remixed right?! :) heavy]...

I'm sure it had some influence on my music tastes afterwards...

In the 1990's my mum always [said she] hated jungle hardcore techno but she doesn't mind Bukem or Future Loop Foundation etc...

Shes got some Ministry of Sound Chill Out CDs [whaaaaaack!:)]

Now mum is like "theres a really good band I expect you'll like..."

Oh yeah?

"Yeah... They are called Kosheen. You heard of them?"

YOU WHAT? I've met them! :) [Minus whats-her-face]

My Mum loves her Mowtown too. I see a pattern here. Mum's rule. She likes her hip-hop too. Asked me to make a mixtape for her once of "All my favourite rap songs that you've got James"

..included was LOTUG, Gangstaar, Biggie, The Brotherhood and Ice Cube. She used to play it on the way to work. Mum's rule.

Dad - fucking military marching albums, three tenors, other classical bollox and the odd beatles tune. Dad's are crap. Well mine is.

My dad like's all types of music, one day he'll be playing a folk album or summat, then later on he'll play a Trance Album, even like's some of my D&B, the intelligent side though! But yeah, my dad likes a bit of everything, the Classical stuff & Ska & Reggae, definately rubbed off on me though. Also all th e60's stuff, which I do actually like.

My Mum likes Elvis & others from that era, music from now, she likes all the poppy stuff.

God knows what my dad is feeling!

If I was born in mums era I would have probably liked the same stuff...

I am [despite peoples expectations!] quite eclectic. Problem is I simply don't give myself any time to listen to anything other than 180bpm breaks! :)

Mum has been on the blower saying "you still haven't sent me a CD of your new tracks Michael..."

I don't know if it will do her any favours! :badteeth:

I don't know if mum 'gets' my tunes!
Unless she can see what I have to do to produce a track its hard for her to understand what makes it 'my' choon as opposed to a bunch of pre-developed synths and samples etc.

Producers - what do your parents think of your music?

Dad: Pink Floyd, Queen, Bowie and lots of heavy rock biznez. Likes the odd bit of DnB, mainly the Bukem-esque stuff.

Mum: Motown. Although she did buy Hanson's first album, muchos respectos lost during that episode!!

I was heavily influenced by my Dad's taste (his choice of music was always on in the house, somewhere...). I love Pink Floyd - spent most of teen years listening to 2 things: Pink Floyd and bangin bouncy hardcore techno!
