For evil bastards like Ian Huntley.
How dare an individual take two precious young lives for his own sadisitic pleasure. What made him think he had the right???!!!
If I ever meet this man face to face, I'll be quite happy, and prepared to kill him with my own fair hands. Whatever the cost.
There's bad people, and there's BAD people.
Puts a whole new perspective on things.

Get a life, he's been put away on two life sentences. To pay the price, and also for his own security. He should think himself lucky. At least in jail he'll stay alive.
And get with it, prisons these days are like holiday camps, they haven't got freedom, but they've got everything else. They should do to him exactly what he did to those little girls.

Reasons i dont agree with the death penalty:
1. firstly we say as a society "Its not under any circumstances ever right to take someones life" but...as your punishment, we will take yours anyway. Bit of a conflicting message i think.
2. If you are a parent or child of the guilty party, not only do you have to live your life knowing what someone you cared about has done to someone else, but you then have to deal with greiving for them as well. Its not fair on the family who have done nothing wrong.
3. As much as you may think he will have an easy life inside, i doubt very much that he will. It might cost us an absolute fortune but hopefully he will get a daily beating from the inmates who will make his life so miserable that he'd wish he had got the death penalty.
4. If you follow the news at all you will see that over the last 12 months about 3 or 4 mothers have had their convictions over turned of killing their child. The women always claimed they were innocent. New evidence shows that there may be a genetic link to cot death. These women have spent 5 or so years inside and some still remain in prison based on the evidence of one man ~This man has been proved wrong and has been discredited. If we had the death sentance its most likely these women would have been sentanced to death instead of having their names cleared at a later date. Some of them are still waiting to get out despite the recent events. I dont think ANYONE has the right to take another persons life. Least of all because too many mistakes made in processes. We are only human.

Most likely he'd batter you before u had chance to even finish what you wanted to say.

:stupid: Get over it.
Anyway...
There is quite simply no need to keep someone like huntly alive. Yet for the next few decades he will be held at high expense in prison. His welfare and wellbeing will undoubtedly be the subject of far more concern than those of Holly and Jessicas families.
If the death penalty had existed, Huntley may have been deterred from murder, he had a history of 'interest' in young girls and was known to the police. His perversion may be so strong that the prospect of his own death may not have stood it its way, but we'll never know will we.
Statistics are showing though that murders are more common than in 1964, when some murderers were still being hanged. Coincidence that.
What is the appropriate punishment then? At the moment he's locked up in a secure unit away from all the people prepared to take him up the arse for what he's done.
For Him, the worst he could expect would be a lifetime watching TV, completing an open university course and being kept at someones expense. A gamble he was obviously willing to take.
How would you feel if they were your kids / sisters etc?

what gives u or anyone else the right to decide whether they live or die. ~Nothing. nobody can play god in that sense IMO.
Huntley may have been deterred from murder, he had a history of 'interest' in young girls and was known to the police. I doubt years and years of fuckt up interest would deter this man. He applied for a job at a school. To m that shows absolute intent of what he was going to. I think adequate measures to stop this man at all costs working in a school would be better than sentancing him to death after the event.

No shit! All crime has increased since 1964. Drugs, guns, cars, gangs you name it. its all helped.

im not sure there is one. nothing will bring the girls back.

I find it fucking scary - especially when you see the interview he did with camera shortly after the girls went missing. How calm and straight-up he appeared. And that Maxine Carr.
It's impossible to understand what motivates people to commit such a fucking evil crime. They look like ordinary people as well! Not dirty old men in trenchcoats like the image you have in your head of child molesters.
People say he's a parents worse nightmare but to me I think he's anyones worst nightmare!
Everybody knows at least one kid and must feel terrified of how vunerable they are in this world with guys like that getting their hands on them.
I'm not violent but thats one type of person I'd still feel happy to see trampled to death.
I'm undecided about death penalties but definately he needs to suffer for a very very very very long time.
God only knows how the families of the girls feel.
God forbid that shit to happen to anyone.
I wouldn't wish that on noone...
