lord of the rings books are awesome trust me - they contain a LOT of background info and what seems like idle chitchat, but that's all part of how legends are made throughout the series. I couldn't imagine reading them all 3 times tho :-D

LOTR II will be sweet i can't wait either - i could watch the first one again and again and again....

I agree it's a cool fantasy realm, do you rekon they could make a decent game out of it? - kinda like dark age of camelot i rekon - it would be sweet....

the silmarilian hmm... let me check the spelling i have the book....the silmarillion is the tale of the elves of middle earth... this is what the back of the book says

The Silmarillion is Tolkien's first book and his last. Long preceding in its origins The Lord of the Rings, it is the story of the First Age of Tolkien's world, the ancient drama to which characters in The Lord of the Rings look back, and in which some of them, such as Elrond and Galadriel, took part. The Silmarillion was begun in 1917, and Tolkien worked on it, changed it, and enlarged it throughout his life. Edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien, the book finally appeared four years after the author's death

I haven't read it yet, it's waiting for me... i seem to remember a game out for it, but I could be wrong about that
