In a way, I'm glad not to see HYpe at No. 1 this year as although he's good, he's no way the best anymore. You have the likes of Markee doing better than ever as well as Swift, Andy C etc doing their usual wicked shit.

Where did Nicky Blackmarket come?

People still vote for him as their favourite dj when he's not actually that good at all!!! Has anyone else got at least 5 sets where he drills that chopper + nutter mix through your head. He did that for ages and comepletely destroyed it and I've heard better mixes anyway!

As for Brockie!! I hope he didn't come high up just for the amount of effort he seems (not) to put in!!!

Sure it was ram at the sanctuary. Was there NYE 2000 - 2001. D 'n' B arena at 12 blatantly, you could not here he tunes as everyone was making so much noise after 12 o'clock!!!! Been to about 5 other events there too.

Anyone been to Code in Birmingham? Well up for going there for an accelerated Culture night.

No. 1 MC : Mc Reepa ! !

Method Resident from over a year ago, disappeared and not seen recently!!!

remember that the awards were voted by the youngsters.. so the likes of shy fx etc will always be quite popular..

missy - i didn't make it ... sore ears :(

with regards to code.. do check it out, one of my partners in formula inc "Garry K" is a resident there... so it's all good :-)

SE One is a BAD venue..

bear in mind if you're hitting london this Saturday it is ALL about Traffic at club colleseum!!! boh!

as the mighty phil blunt said to me the other day *ahem*

Drum and bass's best kept secret...

HOW THE phuck DOES BROCKIE GET BOOKED!?

ok he's a 'big' name... but they shouldnt be allowed to clag it like phuck and play the same shitty tunes over and over again. Especially when theres people like us practicing hard and putting in 1000% more effort than he does. Him (and a few others) need to take early retirement and let the youngsters make a name for themselves with the skills they have.
People are living in the past! they need to open their eyes and realise thers a hell of alot of talent out there just ready to burst out onto the scene

Aaah you should be able to answer my question then...

Years and years and years ago I went out wiv someone for a very short while from northampton. One of his good mates was called garry k and he gave me a mix tape. Is this the same Garry K who is sidewinder resident??? I figured that there cant be too many garry k's spelt the same way! Ive always wanted to know if it's him. If it is, I'll be gutted i taped over half of his tape ! lol

there has been only one bit of trouble, which wasn't really related to the event at all... measures have been taken to ensure this will not happen again. if you have any further questions or enquiries, comments or suggestions, i will be more than happy to forward them on to mark & chris @ sidewinder :)

my comments for those that care:

Andy C has won quite a few awards now and that's cool. He has been around ages and even if his RAM stuff ain't your style, he still manages to get people going for it at the raves. His set at the devious/innovation weekender was really one of his best in my opinion. And his devition to drum n bass is top, nahmeen?
Check his interview out on breakbeat.co.uk DNBTV.

best mc: skibba? nah mate. that's all I have to say. he's like aallllrriiggghhtt but I prefer shabba. saying that shabba's got an attitude problem seen him chatting during filming of the MO FIRE video on DNBTV... thinks he's it. maybe he is. whatever.

best producer: dillinja - this decision is bound to raise controversy. personnally I'm not complaining, because although his stuff is very similar in terms of noises and structure, I recon each of his tunes is totally differnt and I mean that.
He is a pioneer nuff said.

best website: DnBarena - it would be really we all knew it, I've been checking it since it began and it's news section is ace. This dnbTV thing is the don too.
In comparison to FTB it doesn't have that close together feeling that ftb does.
As ever, big up ceedee this baby is sweet.

best shop: Blackmarket records - right I've heard that there's quite a negative atmos but I've never been. Chemical is wicked no question. Avid is my most frequent haunt (juicy big up mate always hit the spot), I've got issues with massive so I don't rate them. Juno was a favorite of mine until they stopped phone orders...

best radio: Kool - no comment, won't explain why. Big up Kool no issue with them but the word radio depresses me at the mo

(not internet radio though, that shit turns my knob (sorry about that comment (actually I'm not sorry)))

best label: Ram... really? I would have said Hardware

Manik ur not a fan of shabba? Did you ever used to be a fan? I could understand why people dont like him these days because he's definately got worse + his attitude sucks...

but in the old days he used to be awesome - back when MCs used to kind of sing their lyrics - not literally- I just mean they were far more melodious and MC'd to the tune far more, these days on tape packs alot of them have completely lost that ability and tend to shout more ESPECIALLY the likes of shabba and riddla

So you always hated him? or just lately?

NYE Slammin are the only ppl who got shabba and skibba all night, if you think about the number of MC related events, and the growing of MC fans (as opposed to dj fans) then this ones gonna be a sell out!!! EXACTLY!!!

A good MC can make a good set great. A poor one and I'm just left thinking - shut the F*CK UP!

I haven't seen Zinc so I can't say that he's the best. For me it's gotta be Mampi Swift all the way. He NEVER disappoints when I've seen him and he's about 7 foot tall.

best MC - see above. Tali was excellent at Movement at the End, and Eksman is pretty wicked too.

best producer - not sure about Dillinja - they're all sounding a bit samey. Grimey! Twist 'em Out, Live or Die, Big Bad Bass... The man's having a huge laugh! Stoned off his face, and we buy the tunes... For me Bad Company are rocking, and M.I.S.T. but don't know who was nominated.

best website - yeah DNB arena have been going for years so fair play that they get some recognitition. Feelthebass next year though!!!!

best radio - was this station or show? cos Fabio and Grooverider push things forward on their show...

best shop - am having issues with chemical at the moment..., love juno :D massive are getting better - less attitude, avid of course, and hmv sometimes for promos... been to blackmarket once, the bloke in there was a twat! (it wasn't nicky, ray or brokie tho!)

best label - Soul;r. Only 5 releases old, and everyone essential! or Hospital - Return of Forever, Part of Me, Cum Dancing... I could go on!

MIKEE HUSSLA
19th December 2002, 08:15 AM
Everyone can have bad sets still, that's why my hatred for Brockie grows every time I hear a tape or a set from him because they're simply not that good.

Even Swift for example, although personally being one of my favourite DJ's, sometimes can go over the top with putting tunes over each other and dropping tunes etc.

Mc's also have bad days it just when you have the DJ plus the mC having bad days is when it goes wrong!!!
