can kind of understand why
We have some wicked nights but it's just more the tension between all the promoters etc
anything from going over peole's flyers to not booking certain people etc etc
resentment , bitterness , frustration , spitefulness , confusion . . .
the list goes on
Think it's here to stay as well.

well i try and link all the promoters and i feel i'm on ok terms with everyone... try not to book the same names, try not to go over peoples flyers..
you will always get people with issues though, which is a shame becuase oxford can be bigger than the sum of all its parts if we all got on and worked together.
i'm up for it deffo.. with HQ we never try to step on people's toes... we do not keep our line ups secret until the last minute and if we ever do have any issues we will try and sort them out with peeps...
to be honest drum&bass is a love of mine but its not my life, i'll always try and promote the local scene and who i think are the stars of the future, oh by the way i don't think i'm anything good at all, so don't think i'm elitist becuase i'm not at all.
heres to a better 2004 yeay!

It's all gone a bit overground hasn't it?
Pulp Fiction on BBC, DNBA album adverts as regular as clockwork, Robocop getting rinsed on radio 1.
Its a worldwide thang baby.

I'm not promoting anything of my own for these very reasons.
Oxford is a village.
Even though friends of mine behave like babies I still laugh at this place.

This has its plus points and flaws.

So you want to be in on everyone's night by getting on the mic and decks etc yet you can say you laugh at the whole scene

I reckon that every promotor - and I mean EVERY ONE - should get together and put on one massive regular monthly night instead of their own. Think of the benefits:
- more pooled finances to book several big names at a time
- more people would come because they were "starved" of events = more ticket sales
- no flyering over other people's flyers (there wouldn't be any)
Can you think of something similar to Innovation in Oxford? It's doable if people WORK TOGETHER.
So why don't you? Imagine how good that would be, and you could then play alongside the likes of huge names in DnB, rake in loadsa cash, everyone's a winner.

good idea chris but it is flawed becuase
1) too many dj's / mc's to go around
2) people play different styles.

true but once the crowds were pulled and the name of the night was associated with wicked nights and really good sets, then there'd be more space for the good local DJs to do sets to loads more people than they do at the moment.

but remember that many of the oxford nights already have their own identity and if you want to hear a particular sound you know where to go to..

he already does work with many of oxford's promoters...
im fucking sick to death of all this hear say about brillo.
you don't really know him so don't jump to conclusions!
Cool Spot

I do not know him but can almost guarantee for example that he would not work with Reload etc so just thought your statement about getting EVERYONE together was a bit false as it will never work.
Yes obviously some promoters wrk together and it does help but no way is everyone gonna work together

I'm insulting everyone?!
Well, if I do they must be scared of me cos they never say anything.
Now... You know I'm not a scary guy. I'm a quite crazy guy sure, but I ain't the sort of person who leaves people with trails of arse piss.
I'm sure they'll say if they disagree!
Just because I can laugh at the state of something doesn't mean I won't try to do something about it!
I laugh at the state of young peoples attitudes here in Blackbird Leys - but I also try to fix them up by giving them support.
You hurt my feelings Cool Spot. You are the insult! :):badteeth:
