View Full Version : Terra Technique Looking for Oxford Talent

Alright Oxford Crew!
As you guys are all probably aware, there have been quite a few changes with Terra Technique, now running over three venues in Banbury and Leamington Spa. (Heights is the new 500 capacity venue)
We have always had a policy of supporting the regions talent, and have showcased artists from most areas, but for some unknown reason have never recieved many Demo's from the Oxford Crew. (Mr Juicy supplied a cd a few years ago!!!)
We are looking for both Mc's and Dj's for the Banbury nights from the Oxford area, who will become a vital part of the Terra Technique Crew.
We are looking for original and unique artists, no anthem bashing, but all styles are ofcourse welcome as we promote all styles of drum n bass.
I have heard only a few people from OXford, play out, but that wouldnt really mean much, the Terra Crew decides who does and doesnt play on merit, skills, and ofcourse vesatility. so we do need demo's!!!
SO if you are interested pm or mail me at djreaction@hotmail.com and I will let you know where to get demo's too....
Reflex Audio LAbel will be launching in April, with a good release schedule ahead, showcasing both upcoming and established producers, so we are also looking for tracks for future releases again pm for details!
Look forward to checking your beats!

D.kay? Keaton & Hive? Calibre... they've all had top ten selling tunes (on1xtra charts). They not allowed either? praps 'allowed' wrong word, I mean, are you suggesting any big tunes avoid. Even if they're quality tracks?
MIKEE HUSSLA
16th March 2004, 04:47 PM
Basically I think manik means don't play "pop" tracks" ie tracks that are popular with the crowd as they may get a bit too lively !!
There are reasons for certain tracks being in the top ten !! Make me laugh when you get gunned for liking them or even "oh my god" playing them !! lol !!

ok ok..
i think you could play a set of "big" tunes with a bit of thought... i mean if you clown it up with 60 mins of "anthems" then they loose impact... but if you play 3 or 4 lesser known tunes and then drop Rah then the place will erupt.
i would sooner see Djs develop a niche rather than play a set of tried and tested cuts.... i'm not being arrogant nor ignorant it's just nice to hear records other than another planet being played out.
Manikular
16th March 2004, 05:55 PM
and i must add that if you think people only get "lively" to clownthems then obviously you lost your hearing during Teebees set.

Easy all, seems that there are hundreds of versions of anthem bashing!!!
Im not saying ban all anthems in your demo's, use the anthems for the peaks of your demos, take it up then bring it back down again!! But you probably know that anyway, but we are looking for individual styles and something that is a bit more unique from you, whether selection, skills or whatever!!
Dont ban the anthem ban 3 anthems b2b with each other!!

For example before now we've recieved demos that consist entirely of Zinc - Ska, BC - The 9, Ram Trilogy -Titan etc. (This was one we got in January this year..)
Just keep it interesting! A well placed anthem will kill it, just rememebr the peaks and troughs!

He always blows autumn up as resident there, I think it was jus the set up, because of the live stuff, because when they moved the decks to the front, he didnt clang, anthemed it a bit but then would you expect to play 3 sets in the first 3 hours!!!
Bryan Gee all the way!!
