yeah we were a bit worried about not having the students here but we are not really going for that type of crowd. We decided in the end that if the lineup is fat enough then people should come, if we get the late license as well then that is an extra reason for people to attend. We may however move two weeks back until may day bank holiday but again that has its own problems of other nights going on. I don't reckon that there is ever a totally right date in oxford.... Do you want to MC? speak to Shuffla if you do. Cheers 4 the input ne way.

yes mate, chuck me down for mcing, no worries...

also you need to ensure you book people who will draw a crowd... as much as ed solo is a good producer/dj you need to ensure he will bring enough people to cover his costs and some....

so if you charge £5 on the door and he charges £200 then you need 40 people who are coming just for him to make him worth it.... see what i mean...

also when it comes to local dj's.. try and book Dj's from different crews... as an example you book lunar then he will bring his lot down... all the cowley massive... then you book chemical or mattrick and there crwes will come down.. you book alicia and all the chipping norton/banbury heads will come down... seen!

sometimes the locals will bring just as many people as the bigger more established acts :)

so it's all good :) booohhh!!

yeah i am well up for promtoing the local scene as much as possible. The only problem is that we have a certain no of sets so not everyone can get one. Lets face it though the oxford scene needs a big face lift so i reckon any new nights are a good idea. We can get Ed well cheap as someone i know lives over the road from him so that should'nt be a prob.....Big up all Method crew!!! I hear dan has moved to Wantage is this the end of DANATION????

good call man... that is why i'm concentrating on events away from oxford, for example the midlands etc... too much politics in oxford.. too many people who think they are more talented than they really are..

yeah there have been a few next comments flying about lately no names mentioned!!! I reckon that if everyone starts to join forces and stops all this petty rivalry then the scene in oxford would benefit so much. THe oxford alliance was a really good idea it was just a pity that everyone gave up on promoting it. I think weekly nights are a bit much for ther oxford scene maybe they would pull in a criowd if they didn it every two weeks i dunno!!! BOOYAH

it's not hard to see who the true heads are, the people who wanna push things forward. certain people do a bit too much talking, maybe if they stopped talking and actually started doing, they might get a few gigs outside of oxford itself... :-)

lotrs of talent in oxford, hopefully this petty rivalry will come to an abrupt end very soon :) i do hope so!

As booking DJ's for crowds is good and everything you have to rely your trust on the DJ's you want or know will put out a good set. What if you knew a DJ who had every trick covered and could play to the crowds expections etc etc but maybe wouldn't get any extra people there through simply not knowing anyone, would you not book this DJ?

i would book the dj if i had the feeling that people would come and check him/her again after hearing them...

dj marky was once an unknown in the uk and now look at him.

the main problem with promoting in oxford is that you could put on a night of the most amazing dj's in the world but no one would come becuase they didn't havea clue who they were..... it angers me to see technically SHIT dj's in the top flight getting paid £500 -> £1000 a set when theer are people in their bedrooms all over the uk who could kill them on the decks.

most promoters wish to break even or make money, and to do that in oxford you do have to book artists who attract the crowd..

when we used to have metro back in 1996... rob booked ltj bukem and it rammed out... obviously... a few months later he booked blame.... however blame couldn't make it in the end so bukem came down again (unannounced) and the venue was about 1/4 full. which just goes to show how much the allure of a big name can be..

in an ideal world i would book PFM, Klute and Friction to play in Oxford, but i'm not sure I would do very well...

friction is meant to be shit hot!

it sucks about HAVING to book the 'big names' to break even... people are 'tartds'

loads of people go on abotu how 'brilliant a dj' blackmarket and brockie are!

makes you just wanna laugh right at them

i say book people like dylan, kemal, tech ich ect ect... all the dark and technical people. but im biased! :D

We are trying to confirm ours acts which should hopefully include kenny ken, fluid, Ed solo, Eksman, Fearless and one of the best UK hip hop collectives Diversion tactics in the bar room all night.

Mayhem mate,

You got everyone booked and confirmed yet?
Please email me the confirmed line-up in order of playing times ASAP.

I can help with booking artists. Just give me a shout....

Looking forward to it!

Semtex? You mean the techno label or the BBC 1Xtra DJ?!

Only kidding!

Can I suggest you decide your company name and a separate night name - ie. Insight presents Semtex or whatever.

Otherwise you end up with more of these ravers saying stupid things like "are you going to Hype Andy C?"

What? Am I GOING to Hype Andy C? Are playing at a party called Source or is it their own CONCERT now?!

Personally I AM GOING TO Manikular Lady Blaze! Hhahahaha!

Respect.

I played in the Bar room the other week for Dance Conspiricy, system seemed ok, in there! I had no problems with the decks or anything....mnnn actually I think the Decks & Mixer we're one of the guy's runnin the nite in the Bar Area...

I think, that's the only way, besides getting your own rig, ois to bring ya own decks & mixer!!!

I can't bare the fact that people think I gave up on Oxford Alliance.

I was fully willing to make the most out of that opportunity but didn't feel very encouraged by the other half [CO2 / Generator] as they were not giving me any say in where the profits were being invested.

It's a long story mate but, hey, Generator have ...left. And now I'm starting a fresh.

Please remember that Break Convention is not Generator under disguise.

All the profits from Oxford Alliance 2002 went to Chris and Ollie [AKA CO2]. Not much I can do about that now.

Hope you can see my point though. I just want this cleared up!
