For Info:

If you have bought an AC tape pack from previous years, the Garry K tape will be teh one you didn't listen to and had no mc's on !!

I hear he's gone up the rankins though recently and cannot pass judgement on how he has improved. I trust he's a lot better :D

I'm sure he's wicked, just harsh how when you're up and coming, you get the tape that's one side which nobody tends to listen to !!

Garry is one of my best mates and boy he can mix, he is also very tight with alot of the biggest producers out there so has access to plenty of dubs.

usually the reason for the no mcs is that he has a tendency to play earlier sets @ the sanctuary.

yes i do

plus it was a generalisation really from the point of view of a tape pack lover.

you tend to know what the best sets will be and knowing that Garry K wil have been on first and he'll have no mc's you tend not to check it, or not at least until you have rinsed the other sets.

I know he's yuour mate and as I put I cannot comment on how much he has improved which I'm sure he has but I can make a free comment on here can't I?

indeed you can. but i know he has quite a big fan base and people do check his tapes as a matter of course. and regarding DJing he has always been very good.

On a personal point of view I would rather listen to a tape/cd without mc's!!!

Unless its conrad or cleveland for the big chill!!!

Ok.

This is on past experience which I stated and more than a year or so ago.

And, they're not really hidden gems to be fair. That's why on a positive note it sounds like he's doing well now so would be interesting to see.

i know he plays to the crowd and it is very hard at AC to educate as the demographic profile of AC is mainly young ravers looking for jump up bizniz.

he can play whatever he likes sir, i think with HQ you have the facility to experiment a bit more than at a bigger do like AC. i'm personally looking for rollers. gotta love the sub.

hell no. the music policy of HQ is ANYTHING goes on the proviso it falls within our remit of "quality drum&bass". i know that all the people involved with their night have their own prefered sound so i like to think the night is a melting pot of all our desired tastes.

I don't think you can really judge one DJ from one of his sets a a certain place, like Garry K would deffinetly play more jump up sound at Accelerated culture, all the DJ's do. Like my set at Source, i played quite a different sound that what i would do at HQ, i played things by Pendulum, Zinc, Dillinja etc whereas at HQ it would be Calibre, A.I, Nu:tone etc

This of course is with the exception of Brockie, who plays the same set everywhere and has done for the last 5 years :badteeth:
