Should I have saved it as something else?
It plays on a CD player but I was gonna upload it onto acid planet for fun and couldn't because it was the incorrect format.
Plus how could I change it?
I have the track on fruity loops at home so could I change it then?

try opening it in Windows media player, theres a tab on the left that says Copy Music or somthing like that, it should give you an option to convert to MP3 or WAV.
