Nothing fucks a person up more than being deprived of a basic need like social interaction - that's why I think solitary would be the only fitting punishment. On their release, the public should be made aware of their location.

not sure about death penalty either. they might be murdering scum, but their parents/family havent done anything wrong, so seems a bit harsh to punish them as well

Yeah, the justice system is fucked up. How people who rape women and fiddle kiddies can receive a longer sentence than someone who smuggles a mildly narcotic plant into the country is beyond me. My own personal view on paedos and rapists is that they should be neutered to remove their sick urges - as for violent young offenders, they should blatantly be sent to a boot/labour camp to learn some respect
