Drumsound & Simon Bassline Smith have given up the prized samples from their smash WAR hit, ‘Ooh Baby’ as parts to be used in a second Drum & Bass Arena remix competition.
Such was the popularity of our last remix event, where EZ Rollers made the samples from ‘Roadrunner’ available that we had to bring the next track for another re-licking. Last time around Body & Soul and Alliance’s two remixes were picked out by the Intercom gang and subsequently released on their New Skool Blazers subsidiary.
Worldwide Audio Recordings has been gaining applause as a Technique sister of not inconsiderable clout. Only started up last year by the Drumsound & Bassline Smith connection, the label is already seven releases deep with 2DB, Future Tech and more recently Probe & Sylo all making solid floor-filling contributions. As ‘Nature Of the Beast’, the first Technique LP draws closer - ‘King Of Kings’, ‘Tyrant’, ‘Odyssey’, ‘Crossfire Danger’ and ‘Bandsaw’ are all doing damage already the Derby outfit look ever stronger.
‘Ooh Baby’, with its pumping electric beat, deep rumbling bassline and revolving vocal hook is surely a track primed for a remix – bedroom producers plug in your Reason, Logic or Cubase and prepare.
The winner receives a release for their remix on WAR [subject to Bassline & Drumsound’s approval], a mega-exclusive VIP dubplate of 'Crossfire Danger' [unique to the winner - with a vocal stating their DJ / production name] b/w ‘King Of Kings’ – not out until October and one year’s subscription to the WAR mailing list. Five runners up will receive Technique merchandise.
