I could maybe raise a tenner ;)

I will attend jungle in Abingdon most definately - I think the main prob might be the crowd you'll get...anyone got any marketing ploys to keep the townies away?

Of course I'll be there anyways, townies dont bother me unless they actually talk to (at) me.

i have loadsa mates into drum&bass who live within the south oxfordshire area.

we can quiz entrants to gain access to the night.. here are my 5 questions all junglists should know

1) who engineered the album "timeless"?
2) what have world dance and awol got in common?
3) who is matrix's brother?
4) what seminal venue first hosted metalheadz?
5) who run V recordings?

0 out of 5 and might as well go up strattons (or buddies as i fondly remember it)
1 out of 5 and you can take a running jump
2 out of 5 and you're in subject to buying manikular a drink
3 out of 5 and your in for normal price
5 out of 5 you're in for free

well, off the top of my head, lets just say i would be buying you a drink (or 2).

say what you like to that .... im a jungalist if you dont believe me I'll fight you :D

shall i make some easier ones

dunno mate...just take into account the fact that many jungalists may not know the top-end of the business too well and are more concerned about raving and listening to jungle :-)

however....i admit that anyone who didnt know ed and optical to that last question has obviously never heard any of their tunes -----> and is therefore not a junglalist :P

Questions 1-3 of the previous lot are beyond me, however i strongly suspect Fabric for no.4 and if it's not Brian G for number 5 then I have woken up on a different planet this morning!

flame my ignorance at will B) just dont copy & paste to DOA or nuthin- that would be harsh!

the only one i'm struggling with is no. 2. the rest... no probs.

i guess i don't quite make the guest list, but at least i don't have to buy Manik a drink LOL

Another point though is that you don't have to know the history of drum and bass to like it so you could be cutting out people who are new to the whole thing. I knew a few of those answers but I mean are you saying that I'm not a true drum and bass follower because I don't know the rest?

if we all make 5 questions ranging from the very easy

" name one drum&bass dj who plays on radio one "

to the very hard

for which i won't bother writing!

um.....Chris Moyles? Tim Westwood?

hehe

You could make a real test/questionnaire and post it on here...we could see who knows the most about jungle. Researching into the answers would have to be allowed though as it would be impossible to stop people doing that! It would be up to you to make some of them really obscure B)

i don't know much about drum&bass

i con't cater for alot of the crap people seem to really like.

everyone has their own loves within our fraternity which is why the scene boats longetivity

but i still can't fathom to understand why certain things are the way they are!

argh if by this you mean dark stuff.....all I can say is that it's an integral part of the jungle seen and I am sure glad it is.

ps. im aware this will cause a conflict of opinion...but isn't that what forums are for?! :D

i mean the badly produced complacent boring repetative stuff.

i like all aspects of drum&bass as long as it's something new and interesting.

i have lots of "dark" drum&bass which is amazing, but sadly in this particular field of drum&bass quite a few producers are getting hooked on tramen breaks and the same old virus presets...

i'm very glad the likes of concord dawn and c4c are pushing things in this dept.

my record collection goes from the most chilled pfm type workouts right through to some serious tech itch/trace business :)

vice
5th February 2003, 04:14 PM
Understood. With you on the concorde dawn point - dark & deep stuff which rocks my world when i hear it B) This is def the way forward for the "dark" genre.

What is an example of a tune which rinses the virus presets? Im just intruiged as I have never known quite what you mean when you say this...

mate!

most ed and op tunes
dsci4 stuff

etc. . .

it's a wicked synth put you really need to twist it up!!
