Yes yes, take the piss but I went to Park End tonight with my ex boyfriend. And how surprised was I when they began dropping d&b at 12! And it didn't stop! Fair enough it was commercial tripe, but I even hooked up with a couple of headz in there!
Is this the beginning of a revolution?! I wish! B)

oh my god...if that doesn't prove that the oxford dnb market is saturated then I dont know what does  :P
although saying that, I used to go into park-ur-end when I was about 15/16 and they did play drumnbass in one of the upstairs rooms, after the gayrage.
With your ex eh Gem? Interesting......?

Not the psycho one! That would've been a death wish!
Nah this wasn't upstairs mate this was downstairs, which made it even more surprising!
I used to go in there when I was about that age to and never got ID'd. Last night I got ID'd everywhere I went! I'm 21!

fair play... shake ur body and lk all the way i'm sure, followed by a couple of bootlegs - Missy Elliot etc.
i hope that with all this exposure drum and bass maintains it's credibility & doesn't sell out
only time will tell...

On the subject of Mo Fire. Went into Massive the other day and asked if they had any promo's etc and the bloke said no sorry mate and I could see some lovely white looking tunes with the bad company logo printed on them ! Likely to be the Mo Fire remix ! Presuming that these were already put aside for someone otherwise that's a bit harsh !

There was a bloke who used to work in there not too long ago, well, maybe about a year or so ago. Had blonde hair but forgot his name. He was cool cos he'd recognise you and say hello and then go into what tunes are in and ask when I last came in etc but apparently one day he just walked out so that was the end of that !
Problem being that they do actually get some good tunes in but it's just getting to them !

I think Park End would make a wicked venue for a D&B nite, if it wern't for the cheese, & the drunken townies!!!
Gemma you must've been pretty drunk to end up there!...????

The dancefloor isn't huge but still, the sound system etc is good. Why shouldn't they let someone take it over for a night. Problem is I imagine is that because they have so many regular's, the may not need to change the style of nights they have already.

shark end is by far and away the best venue in oxford... it's just a shame that the reputation it has sucks and that most of the people who go there have a co-ordinated dress sense. and the same shirt but in different colours/ different patterns of burberry.
put a 70K rig in there and blow the roof off. that's what i say!
who's with me

They must have their own "lucky" black trousers to wear out with their shirts too !
Shiny black shoes a must also.
They tend to do nights with d 'n' b etc in on Bank Holiday week ends but I haven't been to one. Rather than having R 'n' B/Garage in the other room they should have old skool or something more for the ravers.
I'd love an hour to play d 'n' b on that system they have in there ! !

With Park End, they're owned by a big chain firm! (that also does Ministry...apparently!?)
Just a shame, specially after them spending £1million on refurbishment, they need to involve other promotions! good venue...it's all the rest....

i've been to (and mc'd) at a few drum&bass do's @ park end... the problem is that it's rammed, so they will never try anything new on the weekend... the only way is to book the place mid-week..... which is risky!

Prob russell? spiky haired blonde chunky guy?
I have to say tho, I think the service in massive is great. I walk in there and the short skinny guy with brown hair and a beard knows me pretty well. comes over immediately and pulls out tunes he knows i'll love cos he knows my tastes. I sit down spark up a fag and chill for an hour or so at a deck. Perfection!
I get some well funny looks tho! bird in nurses outfit smoking a fag at a deck with a phat pile of vinyl! B)
BEKIT: I'll be there to hun. Lil bro sorted out ID and now more than up for the session. Mummy begged me to go along to look after him. That makes me laugh.

He wasn't chunky or anything. I dunno. The service in there can be ok but I imagine it just depends on how much you go in there before they start to recognise you.
Do you mix as wel then or do you just like buying a few tunes every now and then ?
:D
