:ban:

i have one thing to add to the people who spend all their time on forum's, putting down artists that dont quite fit into their idea of "the perfect music scene". well to those who are guilty of the above, and consider their opinion to be so high above the promoters choice's. why dont you get off your arses and do something about it! run your own night, book whoever you consisder worthy. until then its rude as to sit dissing other peep's hard work. fair enough every one has an opinion. but constructive critisism is supposed to be the way in which a tight music community should work! its the negative people that make the scene so clicky! think hard before you type away with banta against everyone bar yourself!!

and at the end of the day!!

if you dont like what you're hearing....

DONT FUCKING LISTEN!!!!!!!!

TBH - this is a discussion forum so people who are on here are naturally going to have strong views on smoething they love.

I also think that if you're not feeling something then you are entitled to say so. TBH you should also say why.

It's fact that peoples opinions on here have had an influence on who has been booked for certain nights in this area. That to me shows that our opinions positive or negative have helped improve our local scene

Plus quite alot of the people on here who have strong views either run nights, or heavy influence the scene in the oxfordshire area.....

So they are doing something about it.....

Is there a reason for this post, or has someone said something to you....

Yeah there is alot of click in the scene but only cos people try to get the upper hand..... but let them be pretenders always come and go

Hit the nail on the head Stu, but i've also gotta ask is this a reaction to a night maybe not having the desired amount of punters attending?

Maybe coz the lineup was the same ol same ol?

And before you start gunning everyone on here, there are a fair few FTB heads who actually run their own nights...most of which are succesfull and have headliners and local DJ's who the crowd want to see.

Don't shoot the messengers. I've seen LOADS more reviews of people praising good nights on here than dissing shit ones.

Fix up.

everyone has a right to speak their mind. if they feel something is shit, so be it. at the end of the day it's horses for courses.

music i like other may hate and vice versa, that is the way it goes.

different strokes for different folks.

Well I know I'm guilty of ranting about shit and I appreciate how tough it is for promoters nowadays to pull crowds in...

I do get nostalgic about the days when more sides of the rave scene wer closer and the scene was young and not quite so crowded, its true...

The politics of it all is all down to individuals...

It took me the first five years of running tunes till I actually joined a collective of DJs and MCs..

All throughout school I was one of the only guys playin jungle...

Most of my year were into 4-Beat Hardcore and Hard House...

Not really what I was feeling most but - fuck it - I can quite happily just do my thing...

I just fucking love Drum 'n' Bass. It's kinda sick...

Nothing runs my life more. At all...

I'm in Oxford away from most of my family so really the closest people I trust are the BBL Sound / Destiny squad...

They chuckle when I go off on big up all the crew like we are all some happy family when in reality I guess its nowhere near...

Well you know what I'm saying...

I just give my opinions cos I want to see you lot kick arse.

I guess I am sick of hearing London this, Bristol that, Manchester this, blah blah...

Many of us have a way to stay in touch constantly, some of us anyway...

Scarey how accessible the net is getting... Mobile phones n shit...

FTB is centred around Oxfordshire but is open to everywhere...

I apologise if I manage to offend by giving my 'advice' all the time...

I'm just a music lover! I can always see potential for more than this though...

But you're right, it's all good talking about it... How about actually making some of the bloody stuff! You know what I mean?

I ain't got the time or the money frankly to run any parties on the budget of guys on here...

Damn, if I stress this much over local talent you could imagine me having some sort of seizure if I was running 4 or 5 digit parties with visiting DJs...

I never mean to cuss other peoples promotions, but it does come across that way I'm sure..

I can't delete but I can try and chill next door a bit more often and talk stoned funny shit instead of getting in other peoples business so much...

Anyway...

verbal diaorrhea business, sorry.

:badteeth:

Big up all you lot...

IMO the last thing that Oxford needs now is a group of people starting up any more nights it's over crowded as it is.

i think there needs to be an element of it. at the end of the day this "bitching" has influenced promoters, producers and artists to work harder, i know for a fact certain BIG names have started to take note of the forums and push themselves again after a long time in complacency. of course i prefer constructive criticism but when something is so bad it's laughable it deserves to be cussed.

well it seems like you've joined our beloved ftb forum to start bitching.

Compared to most forums, the general chat on here tends to be pretty constructive. the majority of people on here run their own nights, are involved with nights in some way, or are local dj's. like Fu said, it's a pretty tight forum.

it's rare that a night gets dissed without the ciriticism being constructive (EG: 'turn up the mics at Source' etc). We all love dnb and all have our own opinions so there's bound to be conflict, but part of that is the point of forums - for people to dicuss things!

are you referrring to something in partikular mate?

i hear what you're saying but you have to put up with it on the forums

there are quite a few people who think they can put the world to rights by sitting at their keyboards and things won't change either.

get a bit of knowledge and think they know the history of dnb

i don't although sometimes i can get carried away liek anyone else.

just gota live with it, it's not gonna go.

I find laughing at it easier than getting stressed about it

at the end of the day we are all friends on this forum

and much of the banter is just harmless fun.

most people should guess the vast majority of my hissing about the scene is purely to get a reaction whilst i'm bored at work. people know i'm a staunch advocate of the development of the scene. i've lost count of the amount of times i've turned up to a 1/2 full night and given my fee back to the promoter.

All forums have some form of bitching on them, it cannot be avoided, well it can...just ignore the posts you think are wrong, don't get suckered into some peeps pettyness....on this forum, everyone has a moan bout summat at some point...normally just freindly banter, or just constructive critismn. I cant speak for other forums, but this one is safe as Nucleaur Shelter! :D

i totally agree with you

the problem with this forum is that a group of people tend to get together and make themselves the 'cool' group like when you're at school, and then other people who are easily influenced agree with everything they say even though it is blatantly obvious that they haven't got a clue
