OK, I need to buy a PC. Any advice would be appreciated. I really don't have room for a desktop so was going for the laptop option. The thing about this is that I've been told that laptops are a nightmare to upgrade so if I'm going to be stuck with a piece of shit that I can't upgrade within a year or 2 then I might have to rethink and try and squeeze a proper PC in somewhere.

It needs to do the following:

* I've got a 40GB iPod so the hard drive needs to be 60GB or more.

* I'll also be using it to store pics from my digital camera on. I'm not sure if that means it'll need some graphics capabilities or not.

* The other main thing I'll be using it for is multitracking and possibly some basic production software. I assume that means a soundcard will be needed (although I'm not familiar with what specs will be required etc).

I keep getting mails from Dell with all kinds of offers, some of which look quite good. I've also heard bad things about Dell, their technical support in particular.

If anyone has any thoughts or can provide links to sites worth checking out that would be cool. Cheers people.

Comprimise between full desktop PC and a laptop.

This site http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Barebones_Systems_110.html

offers barebone systems allowing you to add components of your choice e.g gphx card, hard-drive and memory etc.

If you don't know how to build it up - they might offer that as a service.

This way you can get a small and easily upgradable solution by simply adding a slim flatscreen monitor.

That Overclockers site is pretty good and they know their stuff too.

Take it eazy
