My mate who works in Massive is a sick breaks DJ.
I would defo go to a breaks night without question.
You might wanna talk to my mate actually if you're having trouble deciding who to book etc.
He extremely knowledgable and would be able to help you out with promotion etc as he'd no doubt push the night to all his customers.
He plays proper breaks rather than some of the shite that I've heard in the Cellar on saturday nights. (Not saying it's all shite btw)

Nah it's Ian Furnival or Furryballs. lol
The big name Breaks DJ's who would draw a crowd...
Stanton Warriors
Adam Freeland
Plump DJ's
If you could get Zinc that would be a bit special but it might put off alot of the breaks heads as his sound is more gayrage.
If you wanna fill the coven I'd recommend that you get Zinc & someone like Freeland.
That way you'd get all the DnB heads wanting to see a Zinc Breaks set (which believe me is siiiiick) and all the breaks heads coming to see Freeland (or whoever but IMO Freeland is the best breaks DJ I've heard)
James Lavelle has been absolutely appalling everytime I've seen him for 2 years (about 5 times) his mixing's never been great but it was his tune selection that used to be about 2 years ahead of everyone else. Now that doesn't seem to be the case anymore

what do people think to Leeroy Thornhil ex Prodigy for a breaks set?
MELODIZE

He kicks arse. Also consider JDS, Krafty Kuts, Freestylers, Hybrid, Freq Nasty and Atomic Holigan. But Yes man Plump dj's really are the best to book amoment. For local talent book Scotty from the cellar and Gary (Avid) Knows his stuff too.

Krafty Kuts is playing at the cellar soon if i'm right - last time he played he mashed it up!!
Would love to see Lavelle back in his home town of Oxford, Stu - agree that his mixing may not be great but he cant have lost all of his good tune selection techniques.
Maybe get Rich File involved and do an Unkle set. Siiiick.
Beyond doubt PLUMP DJ's would tear any venue apart!!!!
Stanton Warriors/ Rennie Pilgrim/Freestylers have all played @ Hedflux, Ponana before.
Went to see Futureshock @ the Zodiac two years ago for my birthday, dark and deep and housey. All good fun
We don't have enough Breaks nights, go Kinetic!
I'll shut up now.
PS: what about Tayo/ FC Kahuna/ Meat katie/ Lee Coombs?
:funk:

Yeah my old dear used to teach James, and my mate knows his brother.
TBH he's usually better when he's not doing his uncle thing
Lavelle's selection isn't any better than any other breaks DJ anymore and his mixing is shocking. lol
I haven't seen him for about 6 months though so he could've improved.
I just think nobody can match Freeland for selection and mixing skills. I've never not seen him absolutely smash the place up. Seriously heavy DJ

truesay, Lavelle used to be the don when it came to tune selection but his mixing's always been a bit ropey. haven't seen him for ages live though

So what you're saying is I owe you a drink from two years ago?!?
Such a tax dodging student its unbelievable! :badteeth:
It was a wicked night indeed! Slide has really fallen off over the last year or so. Its a shame coz Matt and Mike put loads of effort into it and only just break even on the nights and sometimes keep it running on a loss ie whenever they book Lottie!
