I discovered Jungle Techno after hearing Toytown Techno

tunes in the Top40 in 1991.

The Prodigy 'Charly' [XL]
Smart E's

'Sesames Treat' [Suburban Base]

Them kinda choons were wicked when you're

11 innit!

Never would I have thought that I'd have got so hooked though.

Wow!
Time flies!...

wicked thread...

i was an avid fan of electronic

music in the 80's and when i hit the teens, tracks from the acid house era started to

filter through.. it was the birth of kiss 100fm with shows from colin dale, steve jackson

and colin faver which really caught my ear.. and i've never looked back!

Didnt get to my first rave until 1996, but used to

listen to Fantazia the first taste, twice as nice stuff when i was at school (which is about

eight years since i left... fookin ell :o ) But anyway, bit of universe stuff as well as a few mix

tapes from raves not quite sure how i acquired any of it lol. Strangely enuff i ended up

clubbing in london for about a year before i actually made it to my first rave!

was aware of it's existence but thought it was all

really hard techno.

how wrong was i?

got properly introduced when i went to

southampton uni in 1996. bought a grooverider & fabio tape and the rest is history.

went through house, hardcore, loftgroover style techno, and then found drum and bass

all in a matter of months. got my decks the next year and i fookin love it.

never

been to a rave as such but have danced like a lunatic at homelands, fabric, the end, heaven,

the opera house, the manor, creamfields etc.

:funk: You know it!!! M-zone is the puppies knackers!

I'm pretty much the same as merge after hearing stuff like 'far out', 'on a ragga tip' and suchlike on the radio 92-93 era...not to mention 'rave 92' which we used to bung on in music classes at skool.

Never properly got into the scene though, until hearing a hype mix cd and various AWOL cd's and tapepacks around 1994/5....got well into hip-hop for a couple of years then back into rave/DnB around 1999.

I think it was around 93, a freind at school was always playing tapes from Fantazia, Dance Planet etc..Thats when I first really heard anything reprazenting underground...I was always into Dance music from an early age. 2Unlimited, Snap, Prodidgy were big fav's of mine. I've always been a big Ska/Reggae fan, which I tink contiributes to me getting into the whole Jungle Tekno thing!

About 93 (the rave scene not my penis)

and TBH I hated it. Really didn't understand what all the fuss was about.

Wasn't till I left 6th form that I really got into DnB.

I guess it all started in about 93 in primary school listenin to the Prodigy and Randall & Mickey Finn tapes on friday afternoons - First tape i owned was Mickey Finn - Amazon Kings of the Jungle from '95

ONly properly got into it in late 96 with Super Sharp Shooter EP and also New Frontier EPs on Ganja, following an interest in Hype & DJ Daddy's This World having been heavily into breaks and trip hop by the likes of DJ Krush and Mo Wax stuff.

First dnb vinyl i bought was Peshay - Miles from home before i got me decks, and first event was Reaction's Raising The Deeps wheni was 14/15, randall was the first one i think! First "Proper Rave" was Helter Skelter - Decadace in 1999.

I never did find my penis. :(

first rave i went to was the legendary cassington back in the summer of '91 i think it was, couldn't believe my eyes when i got there.i was only 15 and there were scantily clad women everywhere, dancing on top of camper vans topless, everyone so happy and loved up hugging each other.remember it being a wicked summers day.early tunes i remember of the rave scene was the scientist-the bee, the excorsist and there was a tune that used samples from poltergiest film-heavy.i have it somewhere.one of the best tapes i had was carl cox 6 thats before he got too big.
then it all changed and different genres of music were born.
i was always into music since the breakdance days when hip hop formed i was a shit hot body popper incorporating robotic moves aswell.always had battles on the lino down norhway estate listening to grandmaster flash, melle mel, afrika bambaataa and old electro tapes---those were the days.im gonna get my pipe and slippers.:shakeit:

things have come along way and things can only get better in the u.k---ennit!!!!!
