Right, a workmate who is on the panel for the NHS trade union and socialist movement has approached me about an event and promotion he helps run called 'love music hate racism'.
He has helped run it before and they have put on live shows with acts including Miss Dynamate, Manic Street Preachers and Asian Dub Foundation.
And guess what he wants me to get you lot involved if you're up for it?
Its in the early stages at the minute but he's asked the council for £1000 in funding to put on an event in Bicester, so fingers crossed for that. However, if we can get things organised (ie a rig setup, promotions etc) then we can do it whenever they're ready, and that could be in Oxford, not just Bicester (they've done events at Colwey Road carnival and in The Zodiac before).
The main thing he wants is to prevent the BNP and Facist political parties gaining any more ground in the slightly backward area of Bicester. If he sets up an event, then we could put on a music show to promote music and awareness of the project as they would have a stall there with information packs etc. All he asks is that we play music and have their stall on the sideline with some of their public speakers to have five minutes on the mic to promote the thing.
He's also asking if I can ask people to put his logo on fliers and posters at local events to promote the 'love music, hate racism' group. If any of you think this is ok then get in touch either on here or email me Jibba1@gmail.com and i'll send you the logo (you'll have to resize it yourself though).
So in a nutshell, i'm asking for help with this from you lot and anyone you know who could help with this good cause.
Any sort of promotion help would be much appreciated, any ideas of rigs and setups would be even better. Obviously we'd get the chance to play out at the event if you helped and he said that all the events that help with the cause are also advertised on his leaflets and posters too.
This is for real if we make it for real. The funding will obviously help a load but if he doesn't get it in time...then this might not be able to happen until next Summer. Unless you think otherwise?
Can anyone help with contact numbers for people who own rigs or can get cheap fliers etc?
Any ideas or help much appreciated. Thanks for reading this looooong ting :badteeth:
Who's up for associating Feel The Bass with anti racism?
