Anyone know when this is out? apparently released in the US next week.
Its All Gone Pete Tong is a comedy following the tragic life of legendary Frankie Wilde. The story takes us through Frankie's life from one of the best DJ's alive, through subsequent battle with a hearing disorder, culminating in his mysterious disappearance from the scene.
A genius in his own right, he clawed his way to the top of the DJ ranks, now living the opulent life of a superstar, he resides in his trophy villa in Ibiza with his trophy wife. This is when tragedy hits.
Born with a hearing disorder he is rapidly going deaf with only one functioning ear to complete the new Ibiza season. How is he doing behind the decks? Horrible. How is he doing in the studio where he produces his remixes? Frankie dives into a low period, struggling with deafness in utter depression. After a year of locking himself away he emerges on the other side with a fresh attitude towards his affliction. He accepts his deafness and learns to function without sound. Will Frankie make it back to the DJ booth? Will his new single be any good? Will he get back his opulent old life or does he even want it back? When you can't hear, things look very different.

Kevin and Perry go large was officially the most offensive thing I have ever seen.
It nearly gave me cancer of the eyes.
This however, looks quite good.

Guy Hornsby tells you what he thought:
If you want the latest clubbing film in the vein of Human Traffic, then look no further than "It`s All Gone Pete Tong", the story of the rise and fall of DJ legend Frankie Wilde, one of Ibiza`s own supreme caners and turntablists extraordinaire......
The film charts a year and a bit in the turbulent, star-studded life of Frankie Wilde the (fictional) Ibizan legend, a man who`s just as likely to be drinking a whisky and snorting a line for breakfast as he is taking the roof off Amnesia. He had it all, fame, a trophy (if loose limbed) wife, a villa in the hills, the tunes, the fans, the gigs, the drugs, the drink, the parties, the respect. So where did it all go wrong?
If you don`t want the main part of the film to remain a secret to you, then read on..... because Frankie`s losing it. His hearing that is. We all know a DJ that it`s happened to. But it`s sending him insane, and he can`t admit it. And while he begins to fall apart, and people say it`s the drugs, or the drink, or he`s lost it, or he can`t handle the pressure any more, he`s the only one that knows the truth.
And it`s at this point the similarities between it and something like Human Traffic ends. It`s a dark, bleak, downward sprial from here on in. Where it could`ve gone all sorts of ways, it`s a pretty daring move. I`m not sure how many kids will find Frankie`s spiral out of control laugh a minute. There are some hilarious moments when you wonder if you should be laughing. There`s more than one or two digs, both subtle and unsubtle at the industry and the island, and there`s certainly (despite what people may print, or say) no real glamourisation of the drugs in the film. Quite the opposite.
But the thing is, it`s really good. It`s not cheesy, it`s not tacky (well not all the time), it`s pretty intelligent, it`s beautifully shot - some of the best clubbing scenes I`ve ever seen - in clubs and bars accross the island. There`s no doubt that, for those that have been and those that haven`t, you`ll want to go home, pack up, and get on a plane straight there. The place looks amazing. And there`s a redemptive turnaround that`s surpisingly uncheesy.
But above all, there`s Paul Kaye. Let`s hope this finally rids him of the shackles of Dennis Pennis, because he`s spot on. He looks the business, a modern day blend of Brandon Block, Dave Beer, Sasha, and any other caning legend that happens to have stumbled accross the white island in the last 15 years. He manages to get the look of a man permanently teetering on the edge of the mental precipice down to pat, and pretty much fills the screen from start to finish. There`s a good supporting cast, the soundtrack is pretty decent (though as the film was shot in summer 2003 and then edited last year it`s a bit of a mix) and at only 90 minutes, its` not going to tax the attention span of a 15 year old.
Take it for what it is. It`s an Ibiza film alright, maybe as close as you`ll get without a documentary. There`s soundbites from the likes of Tiesto, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Sarah Main, and various Ibizan faces to lend the look `authenticity`. The question is, whether you`ll like it. I guess it`s down to you. But whatever happens, it`s going to be a cult classic. Let`s hope it`s more than that though. Long live Frankie Wildle, wherever you are....
