Fucking killed it.

Props to all that came over, hope you enjoyed it.

Fabio absolutely smashed it.

Played pretty much a perfect set.

I'm sure Nick will come along and write something far more professional

Friday 20th May saw the launch of Sensor and Keynote Recordings label night Sensor. Aimed at the deeper and more soulful end of the scale the night looks to promote good music and good vibes. The night is based at The Hub in Cheltenham where the intimate and sexy retro chic styled venue compliments the vibe that the music creates.

Setup done the club opened at 9pm with Rubiks Records representative DJ Loco holding things down on a pure liquid tip. Airing a lot of fresh cuts from Rubiks and some older Hospital classics among others, Loco was soothing the steadily building crowd with beats. Mixing smoothly from start to finish the Bristol based DJ played a wicked little warm up set. Set highlight had to be the Lenny Fontana - Spreadlove Nu Tone remix which brought a smile to all.

10pm drew near and the imposing figure of DJ Stumasta could be seen entering the dj booth complete with near sideways resting cap as ever. The venue was rapidly beginning to fill up now and the crowd moved around the venue to check out both rooms and to see what Sensor was all about. Stumasta quickly got on the dubwise tip playing some smooth reggae and dub tinged rollers "Jah". Soon MC Manikular had arrived and the hosting could begin. Compliment Stumasta deep rolling beats the intelligent lyrical flow of Manikular reverberated around the venue and upped the vibe of the increasingly busy venue. Fabio was running late but this didnt bother Stumasta who clearly relished the oppurtunity of playing a longer set and reached deep for some deep sounding cuts such as D Bridge - Pipe Dreams and Zinc - South Pacific.

Fabio reached the venue soon enuff to an appreciative cheer from the crowd and also from Stumasta who was beginning to run out of tunes to play. RADIO 1 INSIDE THE VENUE. Fabio quickly got into a deep liquid vibe playing a host of upfront new cuts that sounded sweet. Bringing pure summer vibes was the call of the night and the abundance of ladies inside the venue were more than satisfied. A few problems with mic leads meant that the vocal entourage was briefly halted but some fiddiling with the backs of mixers quickly got things back on course. Despite arriving late Fabio played his whole set and said that if he didnt have to play Cardiff would have gone on till the end of the night. Fabio was a true gent and we look forward to having him down again soon. I would tell you what the set highlights were but i dont know what the tunes were called and wasnt near the booth to ask the big man! Special mention to the throwback to High Contrast - Make It Tonight, something i havent heard out in time.

Next up stepped Access, promoter and Sensor Recordings DJ. The night was in full swing and as always he took it upon himself to play an across the board set that is typical of his selection. Accompanied by long time partner MC Dread entering upon the mic it was time to up the tempo of the night. Cuts came from Pendulum, High Contrast, Logistics, Calibre, Marky and Xrs, Spirit. Tactile and Influx UK among many others. By now the venue was full of happy people enjoying all styles of drum and bass and reacting equally well to each record that was being played. Highlights of the set had to be the airing of Calibre - Impulse and Calibre - Twister a couple of unforgotten gems that need playing more often. Mixing as usual was quite fast and furious as the rather impressive DJ booth quickly turned into the hottest area in the club. Access rocked through for an extended 80min set which gave him time to play a set that featured all the flavas in his box right now.

Liasing with Label artists and industry heads meant that Donovan Smith played a short set to round off the night featuring a smattering of dubs from Calibre, Shy Fx and Soul Drop a new artist with releases on Sensor, Keynotes and Jerona Fruits.

Big up everyone that made this a succesful launch night and we look forward to next months event on Friday 17th June with the mighty mighty Bryan Gee. Shouts to Donovan, Noel, Stumasta, Loco, Dread, Manik, Nick and Jammin, Gary Hubmeister, Big Mike, my Bassix and Sensor girls and all the other cats involved you know who you are....

Peace
