What can i say after another wicked night in Cheltenham town. Im gonna try to do a little review and post pics and a different dj mix taken from the night every month. Just to keep the heads informed and so that those in attendance can have a little reminder of their evening... Bassix June 05 was always gonna be a blinder with a lineup that will ram most large venues in Bristol and London let along an intimate club in Cheltenham.

The night opened up with a 90minute back2back set from Bassix residents Access and Samas. Rolling out early with some deep vibes and dubby bass the terrible twosome kept the early crowd on their toes with some upfront beats mixed with a few old favourites. Despite Access dashing in and out of the booth the set rolled out smoothly with both DJ's clearly enjoying playing some deeper cuts and the early crowded showing an obvious appreciation. Beats came in from Q Project, AI, Commix, Cyantific and Influx UK among others with the set hightlight probably the airing of The Force's new remix of Arsonist which got the instant pullback.

Zinc and Dynamite MC stepped up next to the appreciation of the now practically full venue. The dancefloor was rammed and it was time to get down. Dynamite was clearly happy to be performing back home for the first time in many years and this really came through in his energetic performance. Zinc quickly settled into a smooth rhythm and started off with a smattering of funky sun kiss beats. A few tracks were dropped that are forthcoming on Jenna G's album which is planned for general release in September. More material from Zinc himself this time came later in the shape of Star of Polaris, Moonboots and the VIP remixes of both Fairfight and Steppin Stones among others. As well as a hole box load of fresh tracks that we expected to hear from the big man, it was nice to hear the old mixed with the new and a live vocal rap of Brown Paper Bag brought a sentimental smile to all those in the crowd and even Zinc and Dynamite themselves exchanged a wink and nod. Zinc progressed through a number of flavas during his set ranging from rolling jazz and funk influenced tracks through to stripped down techno sounding tear outs. A great set that flowed fluidly from start to finish and highlighted by the live vocal of Brown Paper Bag.

Logistics was up next and arrived with full Cambridge support crew in the form of the Commix outfit. Due to one reason or another i missed a great deal of Logistics set down to rushing around paying people and buying drinks. However i did catch an airing of Logistics new remix of The Burial which everyone lucky enough to have a copy has been smacking it on dubplate. Mic support came from the dynamic duo of Dread and Marquee B who were tight and precise with their vocals and rhymes as ever. The Cambridge production wonderkid played a whole load of his latest tracks that are forthcoming on his first album due on hospital later in the year. And yes set highlight had to be The Burial remix which promos soon soon on Philly Blunt and is distributed by Load Media.

Finally resident DJ Kontagious stepped up to the plate do destroy those still on their feet at 2am. Opening with the brand new State of Mind - Dreadrock dubplate which is forthcoming on Technique Recordings it was non stop smashers for the final hour of the night. Tight mixing and double drops were the call of the set as Kontagious rolled through tracks from Pendulum, Chase and Status, Shimmon, TC and D Bridge. Smacking it yet again is an understatement.

Many shouts to Zinc, Dyna, Logistics, Commix, Samas, Dread, Marquee, Donovan Smith, Nick + Nick, Jammin, Kyle, Jerv, Rich and all of the Bassix crew.
