Used to be Technics but now I'm more keen on Vestax. I like the feel of Technics but they've been around since the 1980's and have not really evolved. They are just HiFi decks you know. The pitch fader was for precise speed when electricity fluctuation could slow other turntables down. Then the started getting abused by the Hip Hop pioneers.
Apparently Panasonic would have taken them off the market long ago but there is still a relatively small demand, but enough to keep them going.
Vestax are designed with the modern turntablist in mind. Plus I can't play my tunes fast enough on 1210's...

Vestax have lots of sweet features that the Techincs don't have , which is really cool , but they just feel so stiff and plasticy.
Plus if you are ever playing out , chances are the decks they have will be Technics.

Listen to the Random man.... I have got vestax and my house mate has 1210's. The Vestax in terms of performance i.e- torque, platter weight, pitch control, reverse, adjustable brake/start (to name but a few of the vestax features) beat the 1210's easily. You can do so much more on the vestx cause they have got more functions. THe 1210's however are built to last and be reliable. I find that you have to fiddle with the vinyl more on the vestax to get it in time. The technics just seem to lock in and stay there. The 1210's are just so much better built, all metal etc. So really at the end of the day they are pretty well much equal it depends waht you are looking for, a deck that will reliably do the buisness in a club or a deck that will bring out your artistic side but as soon as it gets any drinks on it etc it's fucked cause it's digital. Any way nuff of my ranting........

id say vestax were technicaly better as you have more options/gimmicks for the same money, plus the motor is stronger in the vestax
tho id want tech's because if you go to play in a club theres a much higher chance they'll have technics than vestax

this is a great debate.... one which must be the biggest in dance music...
for sure vestax might be superior, in fact they ARE, but its technics which STILL rule clubland. so its the age old cliche "if its not broken, dont fix it" i guess..
i have 4 1210s and i love them all!

The only thing I always thought the 1210's needed was +10 pitch and the MK5 Technics apparently will have so that could swing my vote slightly because there are still a few things I prefere with |Tecjnics although I have Vestax. Still undecided !!
